I hummed as I helped the cadets with scrubbing the kitchen. I hadn't seen Levi since last night due to the fact that I decided to have breakfast early and help to clean.
"Do you think the titans all started off as humans that became titan shifters? Like some sort of weird lab experimentation gone wrong?" Eren questioned Armin as he tried to clean the stove.
"I don't know. We don't have the resources or information in order to test it. Though it seems highly implausable." The blonde responded.
"Yeah, but what"
"Goddamn it eren, nobody knows the answers okay so lay off!" Jean snapped from his place sweeping the floor.
"You don't need to be a...a... horseface."
"What did you call me?! I sighed and got ready to split the two up.
"Oh I must have got lost in translation. Should i say it in a language you'd understand? Neigh" I face palmed as Jean shoved Ered into the counter by his shirt.
The action caused pots and pans to clatter on the floor. I winced.
"Okay, that's enough!" I exclaimed but they paid no attention. Probably from their brain cells fizzing out in anger.
I resorted physically and pulled Jean away whilst Mikasa took Eren. The kitchen door then slammed over as i held jean tightly due to his incessent squirming.
Levi entered and glared venemously at the cadets who immediately paled with all anger disappearing.
His gaze then moved to me and i realized... my chest is pressed firmly into the teens back since I'm holding him so tight. Immideately, I released him.
"Alright jaeger, Kierschtein. I want those pans picking up and cleaning, the floor needs a mop and dust, the stove oven and every other appliance is to be sparkling by the time i come back. Everyone else, to the training field and corporal L/n to my office."
Everyone filed out as the frenemies got to work. Levi watched me and I rolled my eyes.
"Do you really think they should be kept in a room alone together?" I questioned and he shrugged.
"If they fight and mess the place up, they'll be running until their legs give up. I'm sure that's motivation, right brats?"
"Yes sir!" The two exclaimed in unison.
I followed Levi to his office knowing there was no way out of it. Even though we're the same rank.
Once we entered, i took a seat opposite the ravenette who had been silent this entire journey to his office.
"What were you doing in the kitchen with those brats?" I sighed.
"Because today is my free day? I thought i'd spend this morning helping the cadets clean so that they could get more training into their day. Not that i need to answer to you. We're both the same rank." I replied
"If you were just helping then why were you hugging kirschtein so close? He's fifteen, fourteen years younger than you. So i suggest you-" i burst out laughing at his insinuation.
"...me and Jean?" I laughed as he clenched his fist.
"It's not funny. If anybody else-"
"I see him as a little brother or a friend. Why are you so invested? Anybody can see that i'm acting platonically towards him." He looked away and I stood from the desk.
"Right, well be careful of how you act around that brat. We don't want internal investigations getting in the way." I sighed.
"Yep, will do." I called as I walked to the door.
"What are you doing for the rest of the day?"
"I don't know. I didn't think this far ahead. Maybe I'll head around the town? Visit my father. Why?" I questioned as i turned to face him.
The short man stood and walked over grabbing his coat.
"Would you mind if I join you? I'm on house calls." I winced and nodded to him.
I hummed as we rode into town. Mr grumpy pants was as moody as ever. Though who can blame him? Telling family that a childs died is the worst.
We dropped off our horses and I decided to walk along with Levi. Its a job better done with another person there.
It didn't take us long to get to the first house. Levi knocked and straightened as a woman answered with a smile.
"How can i help yo- no." Her smile disappeared as her face contorted in anguish. I then noticed her pregnant figure.
"I'm sorry to say this but-"
"No! No he said he'll be back! He promised! Please, please tell me he's okay." She cried loudly into her hands.
Without thinking, i placed a gentle hand to her shoulder and she pulled me into a hug. Shocked, i reflexively put my arms around her and brushed a hand through her hair.
"He was a noble soldier and fought to his last breath." Levi stated and she weakly moved out of my embrace.
"He joined the military after his twin sister was declared- wait... y/n?" My eyes widened in shock. No.
I turned to levi who looked down slightly.
"You wanted to come with me so that you were seeing my family anyway?" I questioned. He nodded and i felt tears trail down my cheeks.
*flashback*
"Y/n, what're you doing?! Joining the survey corps is a death wish! You can't do this. Please, please don't go." I remember him pulling me into a tight hug.
"I'll be fine. Okay? I'm a l/n. I never break a promise." I stated softly as i patted his back.
"You're my little sister, it's my job to worry about you. It's my job to protect you." I laughed.
"Okay, first of all, you're only five minutes earlier than me. Secondly, I don't need protection. I'm strong as I am." He rolled his eyes but tears kept rolling.
"I love you. Okay? Be sure to visit sometimes, I'll go insane here with dad on my own." I patted his cheek.
"Don't get so sappy. I'll be okay."

"Jason!" I exclaimed and said man turned and almost dropped the bread he was carrying as I ran over.
"I told you I'd be back on my days off! I'm a corporal now! Commander Erwin said he sees potential and I'm the youngest ever to recieve the rank! Twenty years old and a commander!" He grinned in praise.
"I'd hug you but I've got food. You can tell me all about it when we get home."
*end flashback*
I gasped as memories flooded my brain. My legs shook agressively and threatened to give way Levi steadied me.
"Is dad living with you?" She nodded and I looked to Levi. "You can do the rest of the rounds. I... I need time."
I moved away from him and the lady who i'm assuming is Jason's partner.
I can't believe the short asshole kept something so personal a secret. He'll regret it.
