Dear Royals,
Use supporting articles and share it with the author to study and read or teach the tips you have gathered in the internet or guide books in your feedback. Own experience will also help, but don't limit it to only yourself. Use the experiences of other people to let the author have choices to choose from.
Here are some examples:
1. Am I telling the author to change how his/her characters should act or behave in the story according to my own opinion, preference or belief? If not, am I sure that I'm helping the author notice what seems wrong with their characters? How about the plot?
2. Have I gathered enough information about this genre? Read in books? Watched in shows or movies? Played in some video games? Experienced any of it in order to give an accurate feedback?
3. Have I read and researched enough articles to give the right information to the author? Do I say, "I'm not sure about this one" if I have little to no knowledge about it? Am I acting like I know everything?
4. Am I giving the author enough choices? Different examples to choose from or to have an idea on how to rephrase or revise his/her sentences?
5. Have I been to this country? Talked with other races to know about them? How much do I know about them? If little to none, am I helping the author reasearch about the country and its people? Culture and traditions?
6. Am I sure that I'm not pushing the author to change his/her writing style? Have I read enough books (local and international) to give the author some examples? Do I know any author whose writing style matches his/hers to give him/her a book to read or study its content?
