chapter 01:
bite me

ELEANOR

I trudged forward, every step feeling awful. The groan that left my lips earned a harsh glare from Todd. With a pout on my lips, I tried my hardest to avoid the several students rushing past us to get wherever they needed to be. I was skipping third period to be "emotional support" for Todd while he did his speech to become student president, or something stupid like that.

It was early-January, and it was freezing. The heating in school was broken, like always. I was wearing a plain, oversized men's shirt with a black sweater. There seemed to be a draft going around the school, going right through my ripped jeans. Todd looked over, concerned.

"Why didn't you leave your hair down? Your neck would be warm." He referenced to the buns in my hair and I shook my head.

"I never wear my hair down. You know that." He shrugged.

"Worth a try." I sighed. We walked in silence for a bit, and I fiddled with a loose string on the sleeve of my sweater. He kept moving his shoulder about, wincing every now and then.

"What's up?" I gestured to his shoulder.

"Ran into some trouble the other night. It's fine." I nodded, knowing he wanted to leave it there.

"Why do I have to go to this stupid thing again?" I whined, tugging on Todd's sleeve to get his attention, even though I was fully aware that he was annoyed at my existence already.

It was a big school, I'm not gonna lie, but it was so much effort just to get from English to fight studies. It took me a whole five minutes to run there, and I was still fucking late. Oh well, sir doesn't like me anyway.

"You're being my emotional support, plus you pinkie swore. If you break it, I break you." I smirked.

"Whatever you say, daddy." I said it in a jokey tone, knowing what it did to him. Todd's jaw clenched.

"Don't be a brat with me. And don't call me that." His was jokey too—but there was a serious undertone to it. I hoisted my rucksack further up my shoulder, playing with my lip ring. The double doors to the hall could be seen a few metres away and I swallowed. Todd's face dropped.

"Shit- I'm sorry. I forgot it was in here. You can go, if you want-"

"It's ok, I have my earphones with me." I gave him a small smile, and his was sad.

"You sure?" I nodded. "Ok. There will be seats at the back, so just make yourself comfortable." I shook my head and chuckled.

"You worry too much. About everything." He held his hand over his heart in a dramatic manner.

"Ouch, Clifford. Right where it hurts." I chuckled.

"Yeah, whatever."

Todd pushed the big door open with two hands yet he still struggled. I tried to steady my breathing as I put both earphones in and played my music, full volume. I smiled slightly, as "Teeth" by 5 Seconds Of Summer came on immediately. I started mouthing some of the words to myself.

I looked around to find the seats, with none other than Luther "none of your business" Sherlock shuffling through papers which seemed to have messy handwriting on. I took my hands out of my sleeves to turn my volume down a bit. I took an earphone out and sat one seat away from him, popping my bubble gum annoyingly loudly as I did so. He looked up to glare at me, yet his face fell when his eyes met mine.

"Uh.. E-Eleanor? Right?" He seemed unsure, and I immediately thought of a joke. I raised my eyebrow at him.

"Who's Eleanor?" He was taken aback.

"S-sorry, I just thought-" I started laughing.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding." I stuck out my hand for him to shake, one earphone hanging down which was playing the music way too loudly. "Hey, I'm Eleanor." He hesitantly shook my hand, a nervous laugh leaving his lips. His hands were stone cold.

"H-Hey, I'm-"

"Luther Sherlock. Not like it's any of my business." I giggled as his face flushed a light pink.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I was just nervous, I guess." He scratched the back of his neck. I giggled again.

"You running for president, or something?" I referenced to the bundle of papers in his hands. He shook his head, chuckling.

"No, just Head Boy. You running for anything?" I shook my head.

"I'm the 'emotional support' for Todd." I pointed Todd out to him. Luther nodded.

"Yeah, I think he's in my English class." I chuckled.

"Damn, you got Miss Storad." I dramatically winced. He chuckled.

"She's alright."

"Her tit fell out in the middle of a lesson!" He laughed.

"She's not that bad. I learn the subject and she teaches it well. So, theoretically she's a good teacher." I shook my head.

"Keep theoretically in mind. God, you have a bad taste in women." He laughed nervously.

"Do I? I didn't fuck her-" I burst out laughing and I just couldn't contain myself. I got a few glares from teachers and the person speaking stopped momentarily.

"Miss Clifford, please be quiet." The head teacher glared at me as he spoke. I kept giggling as I replied.

"Sorry, sir." Luther rolled his eyes with a smirk.

"So, why did you laugh again?" I covered my mouth to prevent laughs bursting out of me again.

"Miss Storad is probably the sluttiest teacher in this school." I spoke in a harsh whisper, aware of some of the teachers still glaring my way. "James Irwin bent her over her desk last year and that's the only reason he passed English." He raised his eyebrows, then chuckled quietly.

"Well, I won't be bending anyone over a desk anytime soon." He had a weird aura around which made me blush, but I hid it by putting my sleeve over my face and fake coughing. He smirked.

"You alright?" I shot a glare at him.

"I'm fine." He chuckled.

"Ok."

After everyone gave their speeches, we were all dissmissed to go to fourth period. Luther decided to tag along with us since he didn't know where he was going. Todd seemed annoyed but kept his mouth shut.

"You lot have art now, right?" I looked up at Luther, then at Todd, who seemed to roll his eyes at his comment. I cleared my throat.

"I do, Todd doesn't." Luther nodded. Todd looked to the left of him, where he needed to go and we didn't.

"Bye, Eleanor. See you at lunch?" I nodded.

"Sure. See ya." Todd waved as he walked off and trudged to his class. I stared after him with a solemn expression then turned to Luther as he turned the corner.

"So.." He scratched the back of his neck nervously. "Are you and him...a thing or...?" I shook my head quickly.

"No, no. Definitely not. He's my best friend," I chuckled nervously, "That's all it is." He smirked. Something about that smirk caused me to get really nervous, and I started playing with my lip ring in my teeth. He clenched his jaw. I chuckled. "Something wrong?" I said, a teasing tone seeping through.

He walked towards me, and I instinctively walked back. A few steps and my back was pressed against the wall. His arm shot out and his hand was placed against the wall next to my head. I swallowed.

"Don't be a brat." His words were the same as Todd's but seemed to mean so much more. I looked up at him with a smirk.

"Bite me."
