The house was quiet and everyone was sound asleep. Baylor was passed out in his room while Rose and Randy were snuggled up in her bed. The wind howled outside shaking the windows as a storm blew in from the south. Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed in the distance.

No one stirred as the side door started to shake and it had nothing to do with the wind. The door squeezed faintly as the door swung inward. The silhouette of a man stepped into the kitchen and slowly closed the door behind him. His eyes gleamed softly in the dark as he raked the dark house looking to see if anyone was awake. The man was nothing more than a shadow as he slunk through the house.

He stopped by Baylor's room and peered in. Baylor was sprawled on his back with his one arm tucked behind his head sound asleep. The man gave a barely heard grunt before he made his way to Rose's room. Anger flashed in his eyes as he glared down at Rose who had Randy spooned up behind her. His hands clenched into fists and relaxed before they clenched again. An angry hiss left his mouth as he glared daggers at the arm that Randy had wrapped around Rose.

The man ghosted closer to the bed pulling out a gun as he did so. A silencer was pulled out of another pocket. His eyes never left the couple on the bed as he screwed the silencer onto the gun. The McGatlin twins were his and no one was going to take them away from him. He would make an example of the slime ball who had dared crawled into Rose's bed with her.

The man stilled as Rose shifted in her sleep. Her hand tucked itself underneath her pillow before she gave a sign and burrowed deeper underneath the lightweight blanket that covered her. Eyes glittered with a sick light at the expanse of bare skin and the glimpse of breast that was seen underneath Rose's arm.

Lightning lit up the room for a brief moment as the man moved forward and leveled his gun at Randy's head. One squeeze of the trigger and that piss ant boy would be gone. Once he was out of the picture, he would teach Rose a lesson and he would make sure that Baylor was there to witness it.

A small inconsequential noise made the man turn his head towards the bedroom door. He saw nothing there so he turned back to the task at hand. His eyes widened as he saw the barrel of the gun that was suddenly pointing at him. He tried to dive out of the way, but he was unable to move fast enough and the bullet tore through his left shoulder. He grabbed his shoulder and rolled away shooting towards the bed.

The bedroom door that had been empty a few moments before was now blocked by the hulking figure of Baylor. Baylor kicked the hand that held the gun. The gun skittered away as the man tried to rise to his feet. Baylor tackled the man and quickly had him pinned to the ground. His fist collided with the man's head knocking the man out.

Jim and Ashton stepped into the room and moved to quickly handcuff the intruder. Baylor stood up and glanced over at the bed which was now empty. Rose had moved the bed out from the wall so that her and Randy could dive under the bed. Randy's head poked up enough to look out. Baylor grinned at Randy.

"You and Rose can come out now. It's safe."

Randy stood up and helped Rose to her feet. Rose still had her gun in her hand which she handed to Jim as soon as she was on her feet. "I want that back when all of this is done."

Jim nodded. "You have my word."

Ashton straightened up from finishing putting handcuffs on the unconscious man. "So this is Ronnie Gordon huh."

Rose stayed close to Randy. She peered at Ronnie from where she was. Rose gulped hard before she spoke. "That's him."

Baylor moved to block Rose's view of the man. "This is all over Rose."

Rose gave her brother a grateful smile. "It's hard to believe. What will we do now?"

"For the foreseeable future, you will be spending a lot of time in court," Jim said gruffly. "This will be a long trial, but there's enough evidence put together over the years to get Ronnie the death penalty."

"Can we go to your house Randy?"

Randy pulled Rose close to his side as he placed a kiss on her temple. "I was just going to say that."

Rose took one last look at Ronnie and shivered. "Take me home Randy. I cannot deal with anymore of this tonight."

"Come by the station tomorrow morning."

Rose nodded as she followed Randy out the door. Baylor went with them. All Rose wanted to do was sit on the couch surrounded by those who loved her. They were finally free and it was such a scary feeling that Rose felt as if she was going to fall apart.
