You were waiting on the "Special Mondate Afternoon" Thomas always took you on. It was every Monday Afternoon at three thirty. He always showed up at your door, he always had a bouquet of flowers, and he always had a different car with him. Never the same make, model, or color! Somehow he had kept it up over the past year, and every car was different, but it was always a car.
This week he showed up with a motorcycle, and a small box of chocolates, at three. Your hair was still wet, you were still in your bathrobe, and you were eating a bag of Rolos. He didn't even wait for you to get to the door, he just walked right in, and saw you in your unsightly state.
"Uh," you started before he cracked a smile, "What?" You asked. He chuckled a bit.
"You look so," He paused as if he was searching for the word, "Enchanting when you're embarrassed." He said. He looked proud at his usage of a word that would cause you to blush upon hearing it. He laughed again, and walked past her, and into the kitchen.
"Where're you goin?" You asked him. He turned around mid stride, and smiled.
"I'm going to make lunch." He laughed. You furrowed your brow.
"It's three in the afternoon!" He stayed turned around til he could get a shrug in. You sighed, and walked into your room to make yourself look presentable.
You ran into the bathroom, and changed clothes as fast as possible, and smeared on as little makeup as you could get by with, and ran back out just in time to see Thomas taking a bite of a sandwich. He grinned, and walked over to you.
"Are you ready now?" He asked. You nodded, and followed him outside, "I know it's a little different, but it ought to be a good different, right?" He asked. You both stood in front of the vintage looking motor cycle. All you could think is how much of a death trap it looked like.
"You sure it's okay for human life?" You asked, not even looking over at him.
"Hey, I survived a ride over here, I'm sure you'll be alright!" He said. He walked over, and sat down. You shrugged, and climbed on the back of it. He handed you a helmet, and strapped one on himself.
"You are sure of this, right?" You ask one last time as he turns on the bike.
"If you die, I'll take full responsibility." He shouted over the roar of the motorcycle. You barely heard him, but what was the worst that could happen? He sped off to the right. It was technically unmarked territory for the two of them. They came to a stop sign.
"Alright, What we're gonna do is, every time we turn, we have to turn right. Unless we get stuck, then we turn around, and turn left. This continues til we're in an interesting place." He said, "Okay?" You nodded, and he started turning right. You went right about five times before you ended up at a bar. There were loads of motorcycles in front, and it seemed like it was half broken down.
"Do you want to go in here?" He asked. And you, being the adventurous person you are, nodded. He took his helmet off, as you handed him yours, and you walked inside together.
"Hey, Look boys." A teenage bad boy said from the dart board in the corner, "We've got company." Thomas looked over at you, and cocked an eyebrow.
"Well, hello little lady, how about you go with a real man?" One of the teenage thugs asked walking up to you. Thomas cut in, and stepped in front of you.
"Sorry, she's taken." He said. The first thug walked in front of his own guy, and shoved him out of the way.
"Sorry about that, pal." He said. He acted like he was straightening Thomas's jacket and dusting it off right before his fist connected with Thomas's jaw. Thomas stumbled backwards, and the first thug walked up to you.
"I'm Ace, and these boys are my gang." He said. His eyes trailed up, and down your frame. You shivered, "What's the matter, darling?" He asked reaching out to you. You backed up, and ran into a pole, "What? You don't like me?" he asked. The gang all laughed like it was the best joke ever. You looked over at Thomas who was standing back up. He spit blood out onto the floor, and wiped off his face. Meanwhile Ace pretty much had you in the center of a circle of guys.
"Hey." Thomas said after he steadied his balance. Ace, and all of his boys turned to him, "Stay away from her." He said calmly.
"Oh, and what's gonna stop me?" Ace asked.
"I will." Thomas replied, "I will fight you, one on one." He said. Ace laughed.
"Your jaw should have told you not to say that." He said, "You're on." Thomas took a deep breath, and they stepped outside.
"Alright, rules," Thomas started, "No help from your friends, they can watch me get pummeled, but they can't help." He said.
"You've got some confidence in yourself." Ace said. Thomas shrugged.
"No, I just know I'm gonna die." He said getting into the correct fighting position.
"Then why are you doing it?" Ace asked, doing the same. Thomas took a swing at Ace. Ace ducked, and tried the same move on Thomas. Thomas blocked it, but fell down from the force. Suddenly Ace had climbed on top of Thomas and had begun throwing punch after punch. Thomas kept his arms up over his face, and had tried to get hit as little as possible, but he was failing. He needed a way out of this situation. He got a thought that would either work, or look ridiculous. Thomas put both arms at his side, and rolled over so Ace was under him. Ace's eyes got wide with fear as he realized what had happened. Thomas pinned down Ace's arms with one hand, and hit him one hard time in the nose. That was all it took. Thomas had won. He got up, and started to walk away.
"No one has ever beaten me." Ace called out. He jumped up, and grabbed Thomas around the wrist, and turned him around. Thomas expected Ace to hit him, but he didn't. He shook Thomas' hand, and congradulated him, "Good on ya." He said. Thomas nodded, and you both walked over to the motorcycle. Thomas climbed on, and waited for you to climb on the back. He and you were about five miles away when he pulled over. He turned off the bike, and turned around.
"What?" You asked him. He took a deep breath.
"Is it bad?" He asked. You looked at his bruised up face, and sighed.
"Yeah," You answered slowly, "I'm sorry." He sighed.
"It wasn't you! It was that Ace guy." He said slowly. You kissed his cheek, and put your head on his shoulder.
"Well, if I could've beaten him up I would've." You said chuckling. He smiled.
"Ok, but now for Part Two of unusual Mondate Afternoon." He said. In one hand he grabbed a blanket, and in the other he grabbed your hand. The two of you walked up a tall grassy hill. You were overlooking a big pond, and a small town.
"Woah." You said. He smiled, and laid out the blanket he had with him. He sat down, and pulled you down with him.
"Do you like it?" He asked. You nodded, and you both lay down, and look up at the sky. You both just stayed there until the day was tecnically over. Thomas sat up, and smiled, "I love being with you." He said. Though it was one of the corniest things you'd ever heard, you didn't mind. You smiled.
"I love being with you too."
