The Landing
The crew sat at the controls, scanning Elysium for the best place to land. Kevin suggested picking a location where there were people to talk to, but not close to a city, or near a government installation.
As they passed over farmland, Kevin pointed at the monitor and said, "Look over here. That looks like my house. Let's land there."
A large white house, two barns and a few sheds formed the farm. A small dirt road ran in front of the farm and the nearest neighbor was a half-mile away. This country reminded the group of their home in Michigan. The area featured flat farmland with patches of woods along the streams and ditches. There was a large lake nearby, but not as large as Lake Huron, the teen's favorite swimming place.
Elee agreed that this was the best place to land. Cody prepared for landing by slowing the ship, bringing it down in the path leading to the farm. There was a dust storm when they touched the ground, but it soon disappeared and the crew opened the door to exit the ship. In their sleek new uniforms, they stood next to the ship. Kathy and Linda wore a flowing white top over hip-hugging white jeans, and white tennis shoes. The boys wore their white tee shirts with quarter length sleeves, jeans, and tennis shoes. One thing Linda had added was a small insignia on the chest. It was an embroidered image of Earth with the words "Earth Special" under it.
"It feels good to get our feet on solid ground," said Kathy.
As they walked toward the house, a woman and two teenage boys walked out of the barn toward them.
The woman, pointing at the ship, cried, "Are you the angels that God promised to send us. We have been waiting for you for years. Oh my God! Oh my God! Please, welcome to our humble home." Sobbing she opened her arms to hug the crew.
Her teenage boys were a little more cautious. They stood back and studied the aliens who had landed on their farm.
One boy walked around the ship when Kevin turned to him and said, "We are not angels, we are humans from planet Earth. We would like to talk to you. We have some very important things to tell you about your past and the ship we found on our farm. Can we come in and talk?"
The boy looked at Ricky and smiled. He turned to his brother and said, "See, I told you they weren't angels. They are human just like us." He then turned to his mom and said, "Mom, let's bring them into the house."
The woman looked at her son and then turned to Kevin. "Yes, please come in for drinks and cookies, but you must hide your ship. If the god-police see it here, they will come and kill you. Can you hide it?"
"Elee, how can we hide the ship?" Kevin asked.
"I will use my invisibility cloak," she said.
In an instant, the ship became invisible. Kevin, in total amazement touched the surface. It was still there, but you couldn't see it.
"Elee, why didn't you tell us you could do this?" Kevin asked.
"There are many things I can do that you do not yet know about. In time you will learn," Elee responded.
The Elysian mother looked at Kathy and said, "Your friend talks to the ship? Is the ship alive? Where did the ship go? Oh my, this is strange. Are you sure you are not angels? You must be angels. The ancients talked about angels and they looked like you, in their white gowns."
"Trust me, we are not angels," Kathy responded. She took the woman's arm. "We have moms and dads, just like you, and come from a place that looks a great deal like your home. My boyfriend, Kevin, even lives on a farm that looks like your farm."
