Getting Ready For Trip To Town

Morning came quickly for Kevin's crew. When they woke, Ricky had made French toast and syrup with a citrus drink. He had become very fussy about the foods he liked, and nothing that anyone else made seemed to fit his tastes.

Adem approached the invisible ship and yelled to the crew, "Hello, is anyone home?"

Kevin lowered the steps and invited him in. "Welcome, Adem. We were just sitting down to breakfast; care for some?" Kevin asked.

"Thank you, but I already ate. I brought you a sample of the travel papers required to move around Elysium. As you can see, they have a photo and a number. Everyone on the planet has an identity number, but they seldom look up the number unless you are being arrested. That is something we must avoid," Adem said.

Linda looked at the papers and said she could design some for the crew. Elee suggested she could make the paper as a perfect replica, and then she and Linda could finish them together. Her plan was accepted and each crew member had to have his or her photograph taken by Elee. They stood in front of the central monitor and saw themselves with a background made to match the papers that Adem had supplied.

"Adem, when will we start our journey to Nayaygo?" Kevin asked.

"I would like to leave at noon. Taking the underground is the quickest way to travel, and there is a station ten miles from here. We could take our buggy, but we would have no place to leave it. Since we have to walk there, it will take almost all afternoon," Adem said. "Have you decided who will go besides you?"

"I would like to have Cody and Kathy go," Kevin replied. "Will you be the only one taking us?"

"Yes. My oldest son, Darden, who you have yet to meet, lives in Nayaygo and we can stay at his home. We will spend the night there and return the next day." Adem continued, "It should be a productive trip. I only wish we could take your ship, but that would be too dangerous. I want to share the information Elee gave me about our past with my friends in Nayaygo."

"Don't worry. I know much of the history myself, and I am always in contact with Elee. If I have a question, she can send me the answer," Kevin assured his new friend.

Adem's wife walked up to the ship and called for Kevin to let her in. Sarani was carrying a sample of traditional Elysian clothing for Linda to use as a pattern. Linda was not happy about having to wear what she called hideous costumes, but she knew it was for their own safety. The clothing she and Elee manufactured will at least fit each crew member. If someone should stop and see them dressed as they were, the police would be summoned.

Linda thanked Sarani, who headed back to the farmhouse. After a few minutes, Linda approached Kevin and Adem.

"I have the travel papers you wanted," She said, handing Adem the finished documents.

Adem said, "You could make a fortune selling your services in the city. Travel papers are difficult to get from the government. They ask so many questions and do everything they can to keep the citizens from moving about. Linda, if you do as well on the clothing, there will be no problems in the city today."

Adem continued, "I will be back in an hour, then we will start our trip. Remember, you must dress in clothing like ours. Again I ask, are you sure you want to help us this way? You are not obligated. Please don't think we are pressuring you. It will be dangerous."

"Get over it, Adem, We want to go!" Cody insisted.

Adem smiled and stepped from the ship. It amazed him that the ship was still invisible. He turned around, and could only see the field and sosonas standing near the barn.
