John Wick x Reader
"I can't believe you would be so careless!" John yelled as soon as he and Y/n entered their shared room at the Continental.
Y/n rolled her eyes, tossing her bag to the bed, "I was trying to get this done. And I would have, if you had just listened!" She argued. To say the job had gone sideways would be a vast understatement. Their 'client' had requested that an Italian mob leader, his wife and son, who was also intended to be his successor, be taken out, without anyone discovering them. It shouldn't have been too difficult. But the couple had decided that the best time to strike would that night, at the family's house near the lake, where they were having some sort of party. It was the perfect opportunity, security would be easy to breach because of the amount of people, it was unexpected, and the crowd would make it easier to get by. It really should have gone smoothly. Except, when they got there, easily sneaking in, John wanted to set up on the roof of the pool house but Y/n had argued that it was too far. It was the middle of Autumn, so obviously, most of the guests would be concentrated closer to the back door and inside. Of course she was right. Of course, John disagreed and argued that he could make the shots from the distance. He probably could have. Y/n wasn't willing to bet their paycheck on 'probably' also, she wanted to be right.
In an annoyed huff, she made her way off of the roof of the pool house in attempt to set of in the nearby foliage. A decision that might have been a mistake. She had managed to make a shot at the son. From his place, John had gotten the wife seconds after. Unfortunately, maybe be because of miscalculation, the security was able to get their main target to safety before either of them could take him out.
Y/n honestly felt like it was John's fault, if he had just listened to her and gotten closer, it would be easier to line the last shot up. John however, thought that Y/n was to blame, she had acted irrationally and hadn't been patient enough to wait for the right moment. And now they were really in a fight. "Listen? Did you listen?" John didn't wait for an answer, "No, you didn't. You did whatever the hell you wanted. As usual?"
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Y/n shot back, anger flaring.
"It means that you always do what you want too. But sometimes you need to listen Y/n, especially when you know that I have more experience." John was so mad that he had barely registered the words coming out of his mouth.
Snatching up a bag with some of her clothes, along with her handbag, "Don't you dare talk to me like a child!"
"Then stop acting like one!" Y/n's eyes widened at her husband's words. Letting out an annoyed sound, she picked up some more of her stuff and made her way to the door. "What the hell are you doing."
"The child is going to take a time out, to cool down." Walking out of the door, she spared John one last glance, "Since you know, that's what children do." With that Y/n stormed out of their room, slamming the door behind her.
A couple of hours had passed since Y/n had left mid argument. John had spent most of it sitting on the bed with his head in his hands. He hadn't meant to call her a child, but he was so angry that he was just speaking without thinking. In the eyes of someone else his age, Y/n might have still been called a child. But she wasn't, she was his wife, his equal. Unfortunately, his earlier words didn't reflect that.
After a couple of drinks, John decided that it was time to go find his wife, apologize, and hopefully persuade her to come back to their room. Sighing, he took the elevator down and made his way to the front desk, "Y/n Wick." He said simply and the concierge raised her eyebrows.
"I'm sorry Mr. Wick, I can't give out her information." John rolled his eyes, Charon would have given it to him.
"She's my wife." He explained followed by an exasperated sigh, "Please."
"Mr. Wick," The woman began, "She specifically asked that that information be kept from you."
"Great." He tapped his fingers on the counter, "So there's nothing you can give me? Not even a floor?"
The woman shook her head and John ran his fingers through his hair. Sensing his distress, her expression softened, "Perhaps a visit to the bar will provide some clarity." She didn't have to say it twice for John to get the hint.
Offering a hurried word of thanks, John hustled to the bar and spotted her almost instantly. Sitting at the counter, Y/n was nursing a half finished martini. Sucking in a breath of confidence, John strutted over to her seat and cleared his throat, instantly getting her attention. rolling her eyes, she turned to him, "What?"
"I'm sorry." Was all he could offer at first. But after a minute, when her ice cold stare thawed a little, "I was an asshole. Just because you're younger than me doesn't mean you're a child. And it was wrong of me to treat you like one." Y/n cocked a perfect eyebrow, "And you were right. The pool house might have been a little too far."
Fighting a smile that eventually broke through, Y/n sighed, "I'm sorry too. I guess I was a little careless." Y/n's expression warmed and reached for his hand.
"I hate when we fight." John placed his free hand on Y/n's thigh and leaned in to kiss her, warm and loving. "Lets not do that again.
Y/n rolled her eyes playfully, laughing, "John, babe, we both know that's not gonna happen. Its okay though. I read somewhere that part of a healthy marriage is communication. Even if its very loud communication."
"Oh yeah." She leaned into John and he stood between her legs. "So you're saying its a good thing that we fought."
Shrugging then putting her lips near his ear, "Well, I never said that. But it could be. If you show me just how sorry you are." Immediately after, she winked then pretended to return her attention to her temporarily forgotten cocktail.
"That can be arranged." Dipping into his pocket, John produced a gold coin, tossed it to the counter, next to Y/n's empty glass, then lightly tugged on Y/n's hand, urging her back to their room, where he could properly apologize.
