There are times when we think we're never worthy of love. These thoughts are supported by the environment we are in. When our parents do not love us the way we want ourselves to be loved. When our dear friends walked away from our company. When the one whom we deeply love had been unfaithful to us.
Having these experiences would make us doubt ourselves. We doubt whether somebody will catch us if we happen to fail. We doubt if someone will make us feel special. We doubt if someone will still pursue us even in our littleness.
In Luke 15:3-7, we are reminded of our true value. Our value does not depend on our painful experiences. Our value comes from the one who loves us even before we were born, that is, God. If it appears that none pursues us and love us the way we are, actually, God on the other hand is knocking at the door of our hearts waiting for us to open it up.
