I looked at the scene before me and sighed. It was the first day of senior year and already it sucked. And to top it off, I was the new kid!

Yeah that’s right, I transferred to Richmond High for senior year. The reason for this was that my Dad got transferred from his London office. I couldn’t understand why I just couldn’t continue going to my old school, sure it was a different continent, but think of all the frequent flyer miles I would gain! The looks my parents gave me when I mentioned this were priceless. I think they were actually debating if I was their daughter. I sighed again.

‘You know sighing generally means you’re depressed.’ Came a voice behind me. I turned around, ready to give the speaker a snappy remark, and came face to face with someone’s chest. A very built chest in fact. My eyes slowly travelled upwards and I took in a face with strong features and finally my eyes met with steel-grey eyes that seemed to see right through my very soul. It was too easy to get lost in his eyes.

He cleared his throat and I realised that I had been staring. I blushed and stepped back, only to have him step closer to me.

‘What your name? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around.’ He asked me.

‘My name is Alisa Jensen and no you’ve never seen me around before because this is my first day here.’

He smiled and I swear  my heart actually skipped a beat. When he smiled...I’m telling you the boy looked like a million bucks.

‘Well our school is lucky to have you.’ He said still smiling. He looked at something behind me and his smile faltered. I turned around and saw another cute guy walking towards us, only this one had his arm around a blond girl. One look at her and the word skank comes to mind.

‘Hey J, my man how’s it going?’ the boy greeted him cheerfully.

‘Hey Ronnie, nothing much I’m just showing Alisa around school. She’s new here so I thought I’ld give her a hand.’

The boy looked me over slowly. I shivered in disgust and said,

‘If you’re done eye-raping me, why don’t you go find the nearest janitor’s closet and catch the latest STD from your saknky girlfriend. I’m sure she’s up to date with all of them.’ I said in a sugary-sweet voice.

Just as the boy was about to reply the bell rang and we were surrounded by people going into the school.

‘Well I gotta go. I’ll see you around Alisa Jenson.’ The boy I hoped would be my new friend said to me and started to walk away.

‘See you...’ I said and then I realised, ‘Wait! You never told me your name!’ I called back to him.

‘It’s Jackson!’

I laughed and made my way to the front office.

After I got my locker number and a map of the school, I made my way to my first class, Chemistry with a Mr. Parker. As soon as I walked into the class all eyes turned to me. I swallowed nervously and handed my paper slip to the teacher.

‘Hey Alisa over here!’ came a familiar voice.

‘Oh Thank God!’ I muttered under my breath, my relief towards at least having someone I sort of knew in the same class.

‘Well it seems like you and Mr. Renolds already know each other. Why don’t you sit next to each other.’

I nodded happily and made my way to the desk next to Jackson’s. As soon as I sat down he gave me a bright smile and said, ‘And so we meet again Alina Jensen.’

With a laugh I replied, ‘And so we do meet again Jackson Renolds.’

Right then and there, I knew I had made a friend in this school.
