"What is all the noise in the hallway? I guess they don't realize I'm trying to sleep. This is unacceptable."

As I walk to the door I recognize the voices as Kayla and Tata.

"I am sick and tired of you always sneaking out. This is becoming a regular thing and it has to stop. I know you won't to have fun, but at least ask. Mom might say yes."

"Kayla who are you fooling? We both know mom is not going to let me out after curfew. Anyway you have it easy. She lets you come and go as you please."

"Well Tata if you show her that you are responsible and respectful maybe she will allow you some space."

"What do you mean respectful?" Tata voice changes

"I spoke with Ms. Henry today and how you had a lot of mouth in her class, and I spoke with mother."

"KAYLA! Why would you do that? You should have my back. CRAP! What did mom say?"

"I told mom that I had it under control and that it was that one episode. I also told her that you were just stressed about you upcoming wedding. So relax. She is not mad."

"Kayla please talk with mom about me meeting Prince Nathan. I need to know the man I am to marry. I don't think I can do this otherwise."

Kayla's voice softened, "I'll do what I can. Now go to bed please."

As their foot step ease off down the hall I went and lay in my bed.

Early the next morning, at breakfast, Kayla just kept looking at Tata and shaking her head. I realized that something was going on between them and asked, "Is everything alright this morning?"

They both looked and said, "We're fine!", but I do not give up that easy.

So I continue with my inquisition, "I heard some strange noise this morning just before sunrise. Does anyone know what it may have been?"

Mom looked up from her morning paper and said, "No, I did not hear anything. Is there something that I should know about?"

Kayla gave me a mean look and turned to her mother and said, "I was up trying to get caught up on some work that I did not get finished with yesterday, so I was walking through the hall."

I refuse to let it go, "Well why did I hear two different voices?"

Tata also gave me a look as though she had taken her favorite dress. "I was trying to help Kayla and we were discussing what needed to be done," Tata stated firmly.

At that point and time mom put down the paper and looked at us, "Okay, what is really going on? Tata since when do you ever help Kayla, and Amari why are you making such an effort to draw my attention to last night's activities?"

I turned to mother and said, "I was just thinking out loud."

Mom looked at me right in my eyes, "Well don't. It sounds like you are trying to call attention to something."

I bowed my head and said, "Yes, mother."

At that time mom decided that it was time to leave the table.

As soon as mom left the table, Kayla and Tata each threw rolls at me as if they were trying to knock her head off.

As I dodged the rolls, Kayla asked, "What is wrong with you?"

I whined, "I am tired of you two always leaving me out of everything. I might be younger than you, but I want to have fun too. Why were you out so late last night, or should I say so early this morning? See if you would have taken me with you last night we would not be going through this conversation this morning in front of mother,"

Tata looked at me, "Kayla came and found me last night because I left the kingdom, as you already know."

Kayla cocked her head sideways and lifted her left eye brow, "And she was by herself."

I shook her head and asked, "I thought you were with your friends. Do you ever think of anyone but yourself? What if mom would have noticed you were gone? Or if someone from another kingdom saw you and took you for a ransom? Do you think of the consequences of your actions?"

Tata turned to walk way, but decided to turn back saying, "You are not the one who has to get married on your 18th birthday! You are not the one who has to marry someone you have never met before! Nor are you the one who has to leave the Kingdom you love and move to a Kingdom you know nothing about! I have to do all of these things. So yes, I want to have a good time before I'm stuck with someone I know nothing about and a life that I did not plan for myself then I will. You have it easy. Your life is not as complicated as mine, so before you start to lecture me, tell me what you would do if you were in my shoes?"

I looked at my sister and noticed that she was struggling from the inside, "I apologize I never knew how difficult this was for you. I guess I see your point. I don't know what I would do in your situation. I will do whatever I can to make your transition easier. I won't cause any more problems."

Kayla looked at both of her sisters with passion, "We have to be there for each other because that is what sisters are for. I love both of you and would never let any harm come to you no matter what."

After breakfast Kayla wanted to talk to me alone.
