During school I've been getting strange looks around the classroom and whenever I sat on a crowded table, they'll migrate to a next one.
Whenever I walk into the room a few of them trails off to the corner as if I was contagious with Ebola or something. I started to get annoyed but managed to pass till the end of the school day.
Once I got picked up by Kevin, he drove to the boss's negotiation area which is mostly the Vertex. As where most of the clans meet to make sure everything stays in order and everyone makes sure no one screws up.
"So how was school?" he asks with a hint of sarcasm. "It was deplorable. Everyone treated me like some kind of disease." As I turned back at him he seemed in deep concentration as he smirks at the thought. "Must be one of the famous Trevor threats of coming to his casa." I watch him change gears, "So what did you do little bro?"
"Nothing. Not that I know of at least." I shrug at the thought and looked back at Kevin who was in front of a van coming right at us. "Watch out!"
The car started spinning causing Kevin to grip onto the steering wheel and Carlos to hit his head against he car door creating a bruise on his top right forehead and cuts on his nose from the broken glass window.
"Carlos!" I hear my name being echoed and a ringing sound repeating in my head. "I'm good." I groan, climbing out of the car two guys from the van came at us taking out a calibrator and an assault rifle. Exposing their muzzles towards my direction. "Get on the ground now!" two shots were fired from Kevin's pistol as one shot through the man's hand, who held the assault rifle and one into the other man's left arm.
Since the other door was jammed, Kevin crawled through Carlos' door and opened the back trunk grabbing what seems to be a bag full of artillery. He zips it open and takes out a wrench slamming it onto the man's wounded hand.
"Who sent you?" The man cries in pain and began to curl himself up. Kevin took out his silencer and shot near the man's head. "Who sent you?"
"The Boss." he cried before shooting him with a tranquilizer. "What did you do?" he barks at me.
We called one of the guys to help clean up the mess before the cops come in with the reporters. Getting a ride from one of the guys we headed to go see the boss with some back up taking some heat with us just in case of coincidence.
Taking three of our closest guys with us we headed to the vertex to see what was the problem. Heading into the back room we finally met the notorious Ray, known as the Boss of the south clan who controls the drug dealers on the streets and keep his most prized clients protected especially from the northern clan.
"Ray. What a pleasant surprise of seeing you here." Kevin greets him as the old acquaintances they've been. "Kevin old boy, how has your Tia been? Taking good care of you I presumed."
He shows his signature smile as he sits in the center of table surrounded by two men standing behind him, one on his right hand and one behind us who just shut the door. Our leader sat next to him with a cigar. "Care to explain why we were attacked by the men you sent?" Kevin finally asks.
Both of the men looked at each other clearly puzzled by his question. "My men was sent to escort you here not to attack you." Ray replied.
"Well I believe we have a third party then." Our leader replies, "Any guess on whom that would be?" I add.
"The only one who I believe has power than all four of us would be the same man who went missing several years ago. It would be impossible for him to be back." The leader assumes.
A sympathy ring came from Ray's pocket, observing from his facial expression it turns out that trouble was coming ahead cause myself to blurt out the most obvious question, "What happened?"
Before he could answer the guy who followed me last night burst into the room and grabbed me from the collar of my shirt. "Where is she!?" he pushes me onto the file cabinet and as Kevin tries to loosen his grip Trevor comes in and pulls him with one attempt onto the floor.
I saw Kevin look at Trevor and hate grew into him in a second but he kept it cool as looked back at me. "Care to explain what this is all about?" Kevin asks loudly which could of echoed in the room if it wasn't from the loud music coming from the dance floor.
Trevor helped the guy back up and as he starts to dust himself off he starts to finally talk. "You were the last person to see Lara last night care to explain what happened to her unconscious body?"
I could feel everyone's eyes looking at me. "I didn't take her, maybe if you weren't stalking me you could be watching out for her in the hospital. Are you that stupid to not know she's on the damn hit list?" I tried to keep my voice calm but the thought of her being taken is infuriating me as we just stand in the room only arguing.
"And you couldn't inform me about this?" he turns around to Trevor. "That's why we're training her for? I thought it was because of her psychotic father-"
"Shut up both of you!" Ray shouts, "Lara is missing and I want you all to find her before the other clans collects that bounty. Now go!"
We all gave each other looks that would kill and headed out to find her before its to late.
