I take a step forward to my old friend, Danny. She walks towards me stopping at the end of the table, "I thought you were in questioning?" I say to her. "And how do you even know her?"

"Well someone had to break me out, she was the only one who knew you would take me in." Danny replies in with a little smirk.

"What do you mean?" I cross my arms and try to think everything through. "You might want to sit down for this." Ruby suggests.

After two hours of explanation about Ruby sharing the same mother until her father's wife, which is Carlos and Kevin's mother; killed her mom because of the affair several years later after Lara was born. Since their father loved their mom so much, he didn't want to leave her first daughter as an orphan.

"So your telling me that you're my older half-sister, who has the same mother but different fathers?"

"Yes, I am."

"But why would my father just run away from me like that and abandon me?" I got up from the couch furiously.

"You see my father, I mean our father killed my dad because he kidnapped my mom and I; when I was youn-"

"So that day, when you were arguing with that guy in the alley and there was that scream..." my head started to ache from the memory so I walk towards the window, "You remember that?" Ruby asks and follows me.

"Carlos, he took me back to the apartment and she tried to kill me.." I held on to my arms as I crossed it.

"Carlos' mom tried to kill me because of you?" I look back towards her, "Did you know who shot me?! Who made these painful memories of that horrible day in my head?" Tears were starting to form as I shouted the pain through the questions.

"I was left alone in that alley wanting to die because I had no one!"

I wanted to yell, I started to yell, "How could he just leave me in that kind of place?! How could someone just leave a little girl to die after being shot.. TWICE! To live this type of life all by herself?!"

Out of anger, I ran out the door; not really caring that I was barely wearing nothing in the cold. I didn't mind just dying from it.

"Lara, please wait!" Ruby shouts down the hall as I ran towards the elevator lucky enough to go inside just in time the door shuts in front of her face.

The elevator was empty and I was glad of it, in the corner I just sat down and held myself together but the tears couldn't stop falling to believing that my family was still here and chosen to leave me alone after all those years.

I mean I'm glad that I still have Trevor and uncle Ray, but knowing that I have a father and sister out there that knows that I'm alive after being shot in the head twice for no apparent reason; then not being contact after it all.

As much as they owe me an explanation about it all, I rather be left alone than dealing with another bullet in my body. But the main thing I want to know is how the hell I was in the middle of it all.

And the only way I'll be finding out is by the devil himself, my father.

................

Once I got out of the building I took note of where Ruby lives and started to plan what connects everyone together.

As I took the bus back to the house, I found the place unusually empty and decided to pack up the stuff that I need to start my new journey.

Taking a gym bag from Trevor's closet, I made sure that it was purely empty from his secret hiding spots in the bag. I took a few of my clothes, my laptop and it's charger, a toothbrush, mainly everything I need to get away from here before I bought my bus ticket to Chicago.

The trip was short as I was connecting everyone together, Ruby was my half sister and my mom's daughter, it seems to be that Carlo's older brother, Kevin had a romantic interest as did Trevor which explains why they both hate their guts. As for my father and Carlo's mom, I believe that they were arguing about Ruby's father who technically killed my mom and kidnapped Ruby. However, how does this connect with me being shot?

Any who, I managed to find an abandon warehouse and decided to sleep in for a day before finding more about my father's past. I managed to obtain information about Ruby since she's a news reporter for our local news. Turns out she's twenty-two and graduated from our community college before taking the internship with the news cast when she was eighteen.

Before I could find more information, I heard something come up the stairs. I was staying in a bathroom of an old bedroom. The bathtub was practically my bed and the gym bag was my pillow and the clothes that I packed was keeping me warm. I used the toilet to hold my laptop and brought my own cord to connect to the generator in the restaurant next door which luckily has free WiFi.

Staying in the third floor, I already had my escape route planned out; the window was my exit and the plank next to the bathtub was my key that I can just use to walk over the gap between the two buildings and escaping onto the metro.

However, there wasn't use for it yet until I found out what the distraction was. Looking through the broken drywall, I spot an abandon cat walking towards my direction and alert as I was.

Slowly, I opened the door and grabbed the cat's attention that I was a friend and it surprisingly came forward. It's grey spotted fur was soft and I noticed that it's eyes were as blue as the Caribbean. I grew envious of how beautiful it is and luckily it took comfort in the tub with me.

I decided to call it a night before realizing that I kept my IP signal on for my laptop. So out of thought I set an alarm about three hours ahead to be able to get moving before Liam tries to track me down because of my actions.

Three Hours Later....

The cat was still surprisingly here and was alert as I was once I heard footsteps coming from downstairs. I took my escape route without a thought of looking back. I managed to take the metro north towards my old hometown, where it all started.

I hid the cat on my left side next to the window and covered it up with my jacket just in case. I was on my laptop again with new information on Ruby, turns out that she went to the same high school as Kevin and Trevor back in freshman year.

But once they were in their senior year they all graduated; Kevin's family moved west, Ruby took the internship in Washington, and Trevor continued the family business with Ray.

I remember through Trevor's old contacts, one of them made fake IDs which would be very useful for my little scavenger hunt. It was hard to track down but when I was looking through his Facebook profile I found him in a bar with a sign that said, "Lucky Derby" in neon lights.

As we finally stopped, it was starting to rain so I took refuge in a local diner to grab a meal for the two of us and to charge my laptop.

At the corner of my eye I saw two guys in what seems to be wearing all black, one had a five o'clock shadow and the other had a gray beanie. It could be a coincidence of why they were here but they both look too familiar.

"Would you like anything else doll face?" the waitress asks with a Jersey accent which was ironic because we're in Chicago. I shake my head no and she walks away towards the next table. I gave the cat a piece of bread as I fed her as she hides in the bag.

A man that sat behind me started to sneeze, I guess he was allergic to cats. To prevent anything extreme, I paid for my finish meal and started to head out to find a place to crash.

As I walked I could feel someone's eyes watching me but when I looked back it was difficult to tell who it was because the rain continued to pour even more.

So I just continued to walk..
