maria sits in the play room, she doesn't know what she's waiting for.
"and one more signature here" an adoption agent says
tony goes to sign his name, looking at steve. this is it, this is where their lives will start all over again. steve places his hand over tony's and they both look over to see maria playing with toys in the other room.
tony and steve walk into the room and maria runs up to the both of them, barely three feet tall, maria still tries to hug tony and steve's legs. steve picks up maria and she smiles, a great big smile is plastered onto her face.

the car ride home was quiet, tony constantly looked back at maria just to make sure that she was real and what he did was real. every look back, maria flashes that cute smile of hers at him.
maria looks out the car window, marveling at every passing tree and saying "oo, oo, look!" at every animal she sees. maria is experiencing all of this for the first time.

the three of them arrive at HQ, tony opens the door for maria and gives her his finger to hold onto as the walk up to the door. steve slides his key card through the key reader and the doors slide open. maria gasps at the door and tony walks with her inside.
"welcome home honey" tony says, holding back tears
maria lets go of tony's finger and walks towards the big open window, viewing the lake. steve stands behind tony and locks his fingers with tony's as they look at maria.
maria turns around and waves at the both of them and they wave back.
