17: the jump

"alright, who here hasn't been to space before" rocket presses buttons on the screens in front of him

maria, nat, and rhodey raise their hands

"wait why?" rhodey asks

"you better not throw up on my ship" rocket shifts in his seat

carol let's out a little chuckle.

"approaching jump point in.."
"3"
"2..."
"1"

with that said, the ship jumps into a space worm hole, maria grabs onto her seat as she watches the millions of stars go past. they finally arrive at the planet that thanos is at. carol exits the ship and looks back at the team,

"i'll head down for recon" carol zooms down to the planet

maria looks down, nat puts a hand in her shoulder,
"maria.. this is going to work"

carol comes back to the ship,
"no satellites, no ships, no armies, no ground defenses... it's just him"

"and that's enough" nebula adds in

thanos walks in his garden and brushes his hands along the plants and picks some sort of alien vegetable and walks back up to his little cottage and puts salt in a pot over a small wooden fire...

the cottage shakes and carol blasts through the roof, tackling thanos, putting him in a head lock and pushing his hand down with her legs. bruce appears up from the ground in the hulk buster and maria and nat walk in from the entrance

seconds later, thor bursts through the roof and slices thanoss' arm off and it falls to the ground. rocket walks over to flip it around,

"oh no..."

maria's helmet retracts,
"where are they?"

carol tightens her grip around thanoss' neck,
"answer the question"

"the universe required correction. after that, the stones served no purpose"

"you murdered trillions!" bruce pushes thanos to the ground

nat steps closer
"where are the stones?"

"..gone, reduced to atoms.."

"you used them two days ago!" bruce punches thanos

"he- he- he has to be lying, we have to tear this place apart" rhodeys voice deep with worry

'my father is many things.. i liar isn't one of them' nebula steps closer to everyone

thanos turns his head to nebula,
'ah, daughter.. thank you'

thor stands behind everyone, anger fills his eyes. his hands tremble before he raises stormbreaker and decapitates thanos.

stormbreaker heavily falls to the ground as thor stands in front of the headless titan, realizing what he has done.

'what.. what did you do?' rocket looks at thor

'i went for the head' thor walks out of the shed

later

maria sits at tonys desk in the lab. more specifically, she's sleeping at the desk. maria has been digging through various pieces of information ever since her and the team discovered that the stones were gone.

nat opens the lab door and walks up to maria and taps her shoulder.

'maria..'
'maria...'

maria slowly raise her head, sticky notes stuck to her forehead. nat peels them off,

'i need you upstairs'

nat and maria are upstairs talking to carol, nebula, rocket, rhodey and okoye through a hologram channel.

they all hang up.

'you okay nat?'

nat brings her knees into her body in the chair,
'i'm good'

maria goes to sit on the desk, an incoming call from the front gates of hq pops up in front of maria, she answers it.

'hey! is.. is anybody home?' a familiar voice says

the man turns to the camera,

'who's that?' maria looks at the man

'it's scott..' nat gets up from her chair
