.•••.

I jump up, gasping for air. I felt something heavy on my chest, making it hard for me to breathe. I look down to see an unconscious Irken. Zim's Pak legs were laying on the floor beside him, and his unconscious self mumbled words, though there weren't legible.

I leaned in towards his antennas and whispered softly, "Zim, get up."  I held a gloved hand up to my aching head. "Ow," I mumbled. I shook Zim, slightly raising my tone, "Zim, get off, I can barely breathe."

I heard him mumble something again, then he sat up and placed a hand on his head, where there see,ed to be a light purple bruise forming.

"Zim, you alright?" I asked, speaking in a normal tone.

Zim turned to me, his eyes still on the ground, "What the... WHAT ON IRK HAPPENED?" Zim screeched, jumping backwards. He brought in his Pak legs and stood up, still holding a hand to his bruised head.

I stood up too, rubbing at my head. "I-I don't know, I t-think we bumped into each other w-while playing tag."

Zim raised his other finger to his chin, helping him think. "Hmm...Yes, I supposed that may have happened. Zim a-a....aPOLOGIZES... for his irrational actions," Zim said, gagging on the word 'apologizes', as if he had never said it to someone like me before.

"Zim, y-you have a bruise on y-your head, are you okay?" I asked, examining the injury. My bruise had stopped hurting, maybe because I wasn't really thinking about it, or it wasn't as bad as I thought it was.

Zim leaned away, his purple bruise beginning to fade already. "Yes, yes, I am fine, Jamie! Irkens heal better and faster, too!" He said, his voice raising like he was showing off.

I chuckled. "Okay, Zim. But do you know what time it is?" I asked, thinking of Skool. I would be thinking of my parents, but they never really cared for me. Besides, I liked it here with Zim, even though he scares the life out of me.

Zim motioned me to follow him, and I obeyed. As we were walking towards the elevator that lead to ground level, Zim raised his head and yelled, "COMPUTER! What time is it on Earth?"

"Uhh, you guys bumped heads last night at 9:13 p.m., and right now it's 7:34 a.m., sooo...." the computer said, trailing off in its depressingly miserable voice.

My eyes widened. "Zim, we're gonna be late for Skool!" I said, grabbing his arm.

It took him a while to realize it, as in it took the entire ride upwards for him to notice. "Ohh, tHEN WE MUST HURRY!"

Zim pressed the button on my wrist, making my disguise pop into existence. He grabbed my hand and ran towards the couch, myself not too far behind. He let go to place on his terrible disguise, then once again, grabbed my hand and raced outside towards Skool.

Behind me, I heard a child-like voice scream out, "BYE BYE, JAMIE-FRIEND!"

.•••.

Panting, Zim and I slowed down to rest on the steps in front of Skool. We had been running for about ten minutes straight at full speed, wth wasn't that bad, except for the fact that the clouds were dark. I pointed it out, remembering how much I loved rain, but Zim quickly stood up and pulled the both of us inside of the Skool for protection.

"Calm down Zim, its just rain, its not like it'll kill you!" I said, teasing.

Zim shot me a dead look, crossing his arms in the process. It was about ten seconds later before he spoke, "Water is painful to Irken skin."

I opened my mouth to say something, but closed it, fearing that I would get yelled at or lectured by Zim. It was awkwardly silent the rest of the way to class.

We sat in our seats, me being right next to him. We were in the process of small talk before Zim looked behind me, a rage-filled look on his face. Confused, I turn around to find Dib glaring back at us, clearly upset.

After attendance and a lecture of doom, recess came. I stood up, thinking everybody in class had ran out. I felt a tap on my shoulder, causing me to jump in fear.

"Z-Zim! You s-scared me!" I said, lightly hitting his arm. All he did was laugh.

"Of course! All fear the almighty ZIM!" He yelled, that stupid smile forming on his face. I looked away, feeling a slight and quick warmth.

We walked side-by-side towards the fountain. When we sat down, I expected Zim to flinch at the sight of water, but what I didn't expect was to see Dib's reflection by mine.

"So, you're with the alien now?" An annoying voice behind me sounded cold, which came from Dib.

"Go away, Dib, I don't want to be stalked right now. And besides, he isn't an alien, he's a normal being," I said, a small smile uncurling on my lips. I looked at Zim, who's face was smug. That stupid smile, I though.

"But he is an alien, Jamie! I have the proof!" Dib said, waving pictures in my face. It gave me an evil idea.

I'm not one to do mean things, but I felt the need to do it. I grabbed the photos from Dib, glancing at them. "Whoops!" I said, 'accidentally' dropping the photos into the water, completely destroying them.

"BWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA~! Dib-Stink deserved that one!" Zim laughed, pointing at the miserably angry face of Dib.

"NO! I forgot to make copies of those!" Dib yelled, trying to retrieve his photos with Zim still laughing on the ground. Then, Dib turned to me. "Its alright, Jamie! I can get more!"

"No, really Dib, I don't want anymore proof." I narrowed my eyes at his. Just stop trying, Dib.

"Jamie, I promise whatever proof I have will impress you! I'm way more intelligent than that...Zim...race...thing." Dib showed me puppy-dog eyes, which I easily shrugged off.

Then, Zim got off the ground, finally calming down. "Okay, Dib, stop trying to impress you're human-worm-baby 'crush' thing," Zim said, smirking. I tried to hold in my laugh, which was successful, but left a smile on my face.

"S-She's NOT my crush!" Dib yelled, blushing. This made me laugh a bit. I continued to watch the two bicker while sitting on the fountain.

"Oh really?" Zim asked, giving Dib an odd, but funny, look.

The two kept going back and forth, until finally the bell rang, meaning I was free.
