Soon it was Christmas day. This morning I woke up late, around ten to eleven; I smelled my mom's scrambled eggs and chocolate chip french toast. The four of us sat around the table, Howard had made my mom a vanilla latte with cinnamon powder over top. Zac had on reindeer ears and a red nose, like rudolph; but he refused to wear the Christmas sweater his grandmother had made for him. I found that kind of cute...I'm not sure why I said that.
Anyway, other external members of the Trenway family, along with friends, were coming over tonight for Christmas dinner. Which means I have to dress up in a nice outfit; the nicest outfit that I had was my school uniform, so I had to settle for rummaging through my mom's closet until I found a nice blue blouse and a pair of heels to go with my black skinny jeans.
I found Zac in the living room, watching the Christmas episode of the Big Bang Theory, he had on a nice dress shirt with black jeans, and red converse. He smelled...really good, like he was wearing his dad's cologne or something.
"Did you spray cologne on yourself?" I asked him. He looked up at and shrugged.
"Yeah...why?" he replied.
"...You just smell nice, that's all." I said.
"Thanks, you look really nice." he said.
"Thank you." I replied. Mom came out of her room wearing her favorite purple dress while putting in her earrings.
"Zac, you're going to have to record your show because your father's going to put on the Christmas fireplace they play on Shaw. How do I look?" she asked me.
"You look wonderful." I replied.
"Is that my top?" she asked me. Uh oh.
"...No..." I replied.
"I'll let you off tonight. Where's your father?" she asked Zac.
"Terrace, on the phone with a client." he replied. She thanked him before heading towards the terrace, leaving us alone.
"Can I ask you a question?" I asked him as I sat down.
"Sure." he replied, putting the show on mute.
"Will your family like me?" I asked. "I-I mean will they like me and my mom? You know...since this is the first time we're meeting them and all." Zac smiled his handsome smile with twinkling eyes.
"They're going to love you. You're amazing, and if the lost boy with no mother can accept his new sister, my family will accept you too." he replied.
"Great, thanks." I smiled back. Our moment was quickly ruined by the lobby buzzer going off.
"Well, show time."

Zac has two uncles and two aunts, three children belong to one couple, two to another, and they were all younger than him; waging from eight to seventeen years old. The second oldest cousin, fifteen year old Harry, brought his girlfriend Jasmine. Zac also has a grandmother who's in her eighties and likes to eat marshmellows out of her purse. Michael and Luisa came over with their parents, happy to join in the family dinner.
"Okay people! Gather 'round! Gather 'round. Let's go!" The oldest cousin, Alvin, called around all the kids to the rec room, as he had some sort of announcement that the adults weren't allowed to listen to.
"Now, I know that it's Christmas and usually we'd all be singing cheesy Christmas carols and roasting chestmuts over a wood burning fire that does not exist in this penthouse." he started. We were all placed around the rec room, but with most of us either sitting on or in front of the large red couch. "But I decided that to honor this 'magical' holiday without our parents around, we are putting on a dance contest." oh...I can't dance.
Murmers of approval and/or disagreement flooded throughout the room, but Alvin ignored it all to continue making his speech. "Now don't worry, you won't have to be called up to perform any funny chicken dances on your own...you're going to have a partner to do that with." he said. Well, at least I won't have to embarrass myself on my own. "So, choose a partner, each couple gets half an hour of practice, then we have an epic dance off."

Zac and I were out on the terrace, trying to come up with ideas of a dance routine. Well, I was trying to come up with ideas, he was laughing at my ridiculous dance moves.
"Our song is romantic, so we should put in a lot of figure skating moves." I told him.
"Figure skating? You figure skate?" he asked.
"I used to, up until I was ten, then I lost interest." I replied. He shoved his hands into his pocket and leaned against the terrace balcony, then smirked.
"Show me." he said. I hesistated at first, but then I spun around a couple times and jumped in front of him, extending my arms out like a bird.
"Like that." I said. He didn't say anything, he just tried not to laugh. I hopped aorund a bit, then started spinning around on the spot. "You don't want to do this?" I asked him.
"No." he replied.
"Will you give me your hand?" I asked him, extending my arm.
"No." he replied.
"Please?"
"Do I have to?"
"Yes, come on." I told him. He sighed, before he let me take his hand pull him foreward. "It'll be easy, like riding a bike!" I spun around again, while keeping a grasp of his hand, then I came face-to-face with him. He had his arm tightly wrapped around my waist while my arm was wrapped around his neck. "It goes over really well." I mumbled.
"...Is that so?" he asked softly. The entire world started to slow into a trance...then...
"Ten minutes!" one of Zac's other cousins, thirteen year old Felix came out to give us a warning.
"Thanks Felix." Zac told him. The younger boy disappeared back into the apartment, not bothered at this position we were in. It didn't seem to bother him. We pulled away from each other, Zac's eyes were filled with fear. He was scared, I wasn't sure of what though. Maybe he has stage fright?
"Have you...have you ever been to New York before?" he asked me.
"You're stalling." I told him.
"No, I just love this city. Never a dull moment." he replied.
"My dad always talked about taking my mom to New York for their twenty fifth anniversary. They didn't make it that long." I said, my gaze switched to stare at the ground.
"Has your dad ever done something like this before?" he asked me. I looked at him, not sure whether or not I should answer that. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to." he said.
"He was always a bit of a horn-dog." I sighed. "Once my mom caught him checking out a waitress at a Denny's. She told him she didn't care what was going on in his pants, as long as it stayed in his pants." I replied sadly.
"Alright." he said. "Maybe I am stalling." he was trying to change the topic to something happier.
"Called it." I sang. He chuckled before skipping around the terrace, trying to do some sort of ballet.
"Maybe we should...rehearse?"
