"Loki, here!" I yell into empty air.
It takes him a second but pretty soon I see Loki charging towards me with his treasure.
"Drop!" I command.
He obediently drops the dirty sock that I had gone out and hidden for him to find. i stuff it into my pocket and give him a big belly rub.
"Heel!" I say.
He happily walks right with me as I head to the cafeteria.
"That dog would follow you to the end of the earth Lucas" Megan greets me.
"Looks like he already did." I say scratching behind Loki's ears. "Had to get some food, Loki's probably so starved he could eat skinny little privates for lunch." I say looking into the cafeteria at brittle bones.
He stares at me, then down at Loki.
Loki growls hungrily. The private gasps then grabs his food and runs out of the building.
"He loves moving targets!" I yell.
Megan and I laugh as we walk over to joseph.
"Did wittle bwittle bones get scared cuz of the big bad dawgy?" He says
We all laugh, and when we're distracted, Loki jumps up and cleans Joe's plate.
"Well sorry beans, I guess he could have eaten brittle bones." I laugh
BAABOOOM!!
The whole building erupts into fire. we hit the dirt.
"Joe, Megan, you good?" I yell
"Yeah!" I hear from both of them.
"Loki!" I yell
No response.
"Loki!" I scream into the fire.
I hear a squeal. Its all I need. I sprint into the fire.
"Lucas no!" I hear from behind
I don't care, I run towards the sound of my dog. Then I see him, trapped under a collapsed table.
"I got ya buddy, give me a second"
I pull on the bench blocking him in. It doesn't budge. I lean into it and...
CRAAAACK!
The bench breaks and I reach towards him. He bolts out from under the table, but stops in his tracks scared of the fire. Without thinking I scoop him up and run for the door. I can hear the foundation of the building breaking. I still have 30 feet. My legs move faster than I thought possible and I dive out of the building as it collapses behind me.
I lying on the ground. I can't breath at all but I'm alive. Something wet hits me right in the face.
"Ahh, Loki I know I just saved you from a fiery doom but could you lay off on the kisses?" I laugh
Then everything goes black.
