It was quite tense in the dining hall.
Septimus was in a dreadful mood as he watched the interactions between his human and Daegel, who seemed flustered by the amount of food on the table. Demons didn't have to eat but since Wisteria came along, there was actually a need to use a kitchen.
"How about this, Daegel? Try it, try it." Wisteria urged the man and pushed a plate of chocolates towards him. "These are my favorite treats to eat so be thankful that I'm considering to share them with you."
"Thank you, my Queen."
"You don't have to call me that, I'm not royalty.
The god felt his mood plummet even more. Did the girl have to invite Daegel to their luncheon? This was one of the only times he gets to have a pleasant chat with her, and yet she decided to talk with Daegel? Well, at least it wasn't with Matteus. That would've been—
"Mistress, Lady Delilah has been wondering where you went." Dark eyes glanced around the room as a demon emerged from the hallways, a frown sketched upon his lips.
Septimus gripped onto his spoon. The actual hell?
Wisteria waved her hands towards the male and patted the seat next to her. "Hurry and sit."
"Mistress, you've been gone for some time. The madam wouldn't be too pleased if she learned of you being here." Matteus curtly said as he sat down. "I think it's time to take you back up to the surface."
"I've only been here for a short time."
"Time is different here, remember?"
"That's too bad. I wanted to go and spend a few more days in this place." Wisteria mumbled as she played with her food. "Though I'm sure it isn't possible since I'm a mortal, this realm isn't for us."
"Actually, there's no rule for you not to be here." Septimus interrupted hastily. "The only mortal who's gone down here by their own free will are the ones wanting to make deals with me, and then there's you. Although this place is dangerous, I'll allow you to run about with a few of my demons to keep you guarded."
Matteus looked over towards the blonde. "Mistress? Is that what you want?"
"The castle is boring. I want play outside and take Daegel up to the surface." Wisteria admitted. "Matteus, did you know he's never had a vacation before?"
"What's a vacation? Is that some sort of nap?"
Wisteria gaped. "Impossible, don't tell me you've never had a day off."
"The only one with a day off is Lord Septimus, but he only uses it to wander off and get lost." Matteus snorted. Septimus growled incoherently under his breath.
Daegel wanted nothing more than to go back and row his boat over to his lands, but he couldn't afford to afford the master by getting up and leave. He really did wanted to get out of here.
Wisteria grew even more bored watching the two of them having a small and petty fight. She continued picking away at her food before glancing at Daegel.
"Daegel, when do you want to explore the surface?"
"Hmm? Oh! My Queen, winter will be ending in another month or so, how about going up there then?"
"Why after winter?"
Daegel sagged his shoulders. "Every year people fall sick from the season or perhaps grow too cold, everyone dies faster in winter. The souls stack up and this place becomes a little too crowded and hasty. It would be unwise to leave my position."
