~ |Stuck In The Past| ~
"Hey, (Y/N)! Where do you keep your cups at?" Jungkook called out from the kitchen, earning everyone's attention from the living room.
"This kid.." Mae closed her eyes and heaved loudly from disappointment, mostly embarrassment. "Still the idiot he his."
You giggled from her complaint. "And you're still the little, miss judgment herself eh?" You stood up from your spot on the sofa next to Taehyung. "I'll be right back." You made your way to the kitchen excusing yourself.
"Well I mean, he's your step brother after all, missy." Hoseok clarified with a small chuckle escaping his mouth.
"Way to go for pointing out the obvious Mr. happy pants." Mae sassed back jokingly. "Well, he's always been like that since high school apparently. I'm sure Taehyung remembers, right?" She turned her head to him grabbing his attention with a smile.
He lifted up his head now giving his attention. "Well, yeah...I remember those days when you guys made me feel welcomed in your group." He smiled softly.
"Mhm! Even that time when we used to go out to the arcade!" She pointed out as she leaned back on the sofa with a pillow on her lap.
"Right..." Taehyung laughed. It felt a bit awkwardly impossible to reconnect with the people that (Y/N) has most definitely been close with her whole life. Certainly Taehyung felt accepted by them when they first met, but it felt weird to get along and catch up with everyone especially now.
Namjoon stood up from his comfortable spot momentarily and began picking up the now empty plates located on the small modern coffee table in front of them.
Taehyung saw his action and immediately stopped him from doing much more. "O-Oh..please don't, you guys are the guests, I can take it."
Namjoon kindly declined his offer. "It's fine! We used the plates and made the mess, we mine as well clean up."
Hoseok bobbed his head up at Namjoon with raised eyebrows. "I'm sorry, 'we?' —ow!" He rubbed his arm while scrunching up his nose at Jin.
"Yes, 'we'. Go help Namjoon clean up will you?!" Jim raised him hand and began shooing Hoseok away from him.
And Hoseok most definitely looked offended.
The both of them received a heavy sigh from Namjoon. "Just sit down and relax, I got it from here." He took the rest of the plates and headed to the kitchen, leaving the rest behind.
Namjoon walked towards the entrance of the kitchen and was startled mid-way of doing so with a hyper, energetic Jungkook.
"I have the drinks!~" Jungkook sang out loud as he zoomed out the kitchen, bumping into Namjoon's side. "Oop-, sorry hyung!" He chuckled and continued to the living room.
Namjoon was still in the process of stumbling forward with the plates in his hands now falling off from his hold.
Until you swooped in and caught the fallen plates before they smashed onto the hard wood floor.
Thank god for your reflexes.
You caught your breath and stood up immediately to set the plates on the counter near the sink. "Woah, you alright Joonie?"
"Y-Yeah...I'm fine, thanks for that." He smiled awkwardly and set the rest of the plates down along with the others. "You caught me lacking.."
You giggled softly at his last response spoken out. "You looked frightened when Kook ran into you."
"Ah, right..they do say I'm still clumsy though." He smiled wide enough to make his little small cute dimple appear on his cheek.
Your eyes traveled down to it with a soft heart. "Aw, your dimple...haven't seen it appear in forever." You gasped.
Namjoon softly smiled at your reaction as his lower back leaned on the counter next to you, with hands stuffed in his pockets.
"You haven't changed one bit, (Y/N)..." He quietly responded now looking down at you.
You were lost at his words, tilting your head curiously. "What do you mean by that?"
Namjoon faced down shyly with the side of his lip turning downward. "The caring, lighthearted, pretty girl we knew when we were kids..you had that same look when your big beady eyes shined endlessly when your cheeks turned a bright pink color...and that smile that never went away. It brought all of us happiness." He explained.
You was left there with your lips parted and eyebrows raised. "All of you guys?..." you questioned.
He nodded. "The boys and I..as well as..Yoongi.." He chocked out, now regretting the words that escaped his mouth.
There was a long pause making the mood feel gloomy.
"I-I'm sorry..I shouldn't have-" Namjoon began stuttering as his heart felt heavy, mentally cursing himself.
You took his hand and held it ever so gently, making his cheeks turn a bright shade of red.
"It's fine Joonie, we don't need to worry about what happened in the past, we all know he's somewhere much more safer and happier than it is on this earth. There's no room to be mournful." You hushed, rubbing his hand with your thumb to comfort.
He stared at you in awe. This was the (Y/N) he knew and missed. He knew you were always understanding and kind to your words as you stayed true to others and most importantly, yourself. How you put others before you and did what was right. How your comforting words never failed him, even when you guys were little kids. He missed the feeling.
Namjoon's daze had broke when you removed your hand from his to begin washing the dishes.
He coughed out awkwardly while scratching his head. "Sooo...you and Taehyung..how's that?" He said feeling the need to change the subject.
"We're doing great actually." You smiled. "It's crazy when you think about it he's been there for me since day one, and now..we ended up being each other's companion.." you looked at him and cheesed.
"R-Right that's great to hear..I was just checking in to see what you had to say because well...I.." he rubbed his neck while looking up at the ceiling, the way you remembered he always did in the past.
You giggled by his sudden cute reaction. "Namjoon, I know where you're coming from.." you stopped the faucet from the sink. "But with all due to respect, I need you to understand I'm married now..." you looked away shyly.
He cleared his throat and straightened himself up. "I know..I just-..never mind" he gave you a sad smile. "Like what you said.. 'We don't need to worry about what happened in the past'...I'm really happy for you (Y/N).." with that, he left you alone with his head hanged low with red cheeks from embarrassment.
You bit the corner of your lip as you finished drying the dishes with your heart beating fast.
