"No, that's nonsense. The boys can sleep in the same room if it's too much trouble."

"Well Josh and Aria each have their stuff in one room, maybe we should keep it that way for now?"

The brothers and I sat on one of the leather couches in the living room, the tan interior matching the neutral outside as well.

Levi was sandwiched between Josh and I, likely to aid in preventing a nasty interaction. Our parents seemed to not yet notice the tension between Josh and I, though it was probably because Josh seemed adamant on hiding our breakup.

For some ridiculous fucking reason.

Kari had called me a few minutes ago, but I was too stressed listening to our parents arrange rooms to actually answer. I'll call her later, when Josh and I aren't in the same room.

"Just keep Josh and Aria in the same room for now, I'm sure they'll be fine. Levi can have the fourth room to himself."

Great fucking help, Mom.

Logically, I knew my mom didn't know anything was wrong. Based on the looks she kept shooting me, however, I get the feeling that she knew more than she let on but didn't want to make a scene.

"Is that alright with you three?"

The parents turned to address us. I was already standing, nodding, and moving to grab my stuff.

I picked up my bag where it had been dropped near the door, and walked into the side bedroom off of the first floor, near the kitchen. A few feet away from this door was the second bedroom on the first floor, where our parents stuck Levi. Our parents would take the two remaining bedrooms upstairs.

This used to mean that Josh could sneak into my room while we were dating to have sex, or just roll over in the middle of the night once we shared the room.

Now, they were too far away to hear if any fights broke out.

Not promising.

Still, I did as was told, walking into the bedroom nearest to the kitchen off of the entryway.

The bedroom was just as I remembered, with nothing having been changed despite my parents continually clamoring to paint the rooms.

The walls were the same sandy color, with tan and neutral furniture throughout the room. Only one exception was made to the color scheme: the bed cover and pillows that were decorated a deep, cerulean blue.

I set my bag down in the far corner of the room, as the queen-sized bed was directly in the center.

Hearing a noise behind me, I saw Josh throw his bags down on the opposite side closer to the door.

Turning, he leveled me with a gaze.

"I'm sleeping on the bed."

While my body still argued over my lovey feelings, my dignity had suffered enough.

"Fine, but you're sharing. I refuse to sleep on the floor."

He narrowed his eyes, then bared his teeth.

"That's fine. If you fall off in the middle of the night, it's because you took up too much space and rolled over."

Yikes.

I shook my head, brushing past him. He allowed it, and I walked proudly until I got to the kitchen.

It was damn exhausting. Who gave him the fucking right to be an asshole?

I was tired and frustrated, but just decided to suck it up. It was nighttime, anyway. Our parents had already gone upstairs to sleep. With any luck, I could sneak in and Josh would already be asleep.
