"Stories are told from one perspective and the only hope is that it's told truthfully." - EmmaBogacki3
Jenny stares mortified at what she just heard. She starts breathing faster and shaking violently. Andy wraps bus arms around her before looking up at Garrett.
"Who are you, really?" Andy asks angrily.
Garrett hopes up from his seat before walking over to Jenny. Andy stands between them and crosses his arms over his chest. Garrett sighs and looks sadly up at Andy. "I can explain later."
"Why don't you explain now?" Andy asks.
Garrett looks around. "This isn't necessarily the best location for my conversation."
Jenny stands up from behind Andy before walking around them and out the door. Garrett turns and runs after Jenny while Andy puts all of his and Jenny's food in a bag.
"Jen!" Garrett says before catching up to her. "You don't understand, I have to!"
Jenny turns to him with tears in her eyes. "Don't understand what? That you're a drug dealer?" She steps closer to him, her arms hugging herself. "My parents died in a car crash...they were hit by a drug dealer who was running from the police..." She starts to shake.
Garrett steps forward but is quickly pushed away by Andy, who has a paper bag of food in one hand and an arm wrapped around Jenny. She cries into his chest while Andy looks at Garrett with disgust.
"Jen, I'm sorry," Garrett shakes his head. "I didn't know that was-"
"Enough Garrett," Andy says. "I'll bring you back to the school but y'all please leave Jenny alone for the rest of the day."
Garrett hesistats but nods and stares at Jenny. Andy pulls her closer and guides her back to the car. She slowly climbs in and Andy holds her against him by her shoulders before Garrett also climbs in.
They sit in silence the whole way back to the school until they reach the parking lot. Garrett turns to both of them before they get out.
"I would like to explain myself after school," He says blankly. Jenny turns her head to look at Garrett. "If you two would be interested."
Andy opens his mouth to speak but Jenny's phone starts to ring. She reaches into the back pocket of her skinny jeans and pulls out her phone. She quickly swipes and listens for her sister's voice.
"Jennifer?" Allison says.
"Yeah, what's up Ally?" She says casually.
"Can you stay at Andy's after school? I'm going out for..." She pauses. "I'm going to be out late."
Jenny smiles. "With Fynn?"
"You don't need to know, okay? I'll pick you up later at Andy's." Allison says before sighing. "I love you Jenny, and tell Andy I said hi."
"I will, love you bye." Jenny hangs up her phone and looks at Andy. "I'm staying at your house for a little bit after school. Ally's going out with her mate."
Andy nods before looking at Garrett. "Would it be long?"
Garrett shakes his head. "It will at most take an hour."
Andy looks down at Jenny. "Do you want to go?"
Jenny looks at Garrett, tears starting to form in her eyes. "It better be a good reason."
Garrett nods before getting out of the car, letting Jenny out in the process. She goes to step down out of the car and stumbles forward. Garrett catches her in his arms and slowly lifts her up.
"Are you okay, Jen?" He asks softly.
Jenny nods before leaning her head against Garretts chest and sighing. "I need help walking, I feel like passing out right now."
Garrett nods before letting Jenny grab his arm and lead her into the school. Andy hands the paper bag to Jenny, who takes the bag and transfers herself to Andy. He holds her against him while they walk into the school, Garrett trailing close behind.
Andy leads Jenny to her locker, unlocks the locker for her, and puts the bag on one of the selves. She grabs her binder before slowly turning to Garrett, who has kept his distance.
"Please...." She sighs. "Please stay with me forth rest of the day."
He looks from her to Andy, who is giving him the death glare, then back to Jenny. He nods. "Of course, Jen. I can definitely do that."
She turns to Andy. "My last hour is Accounting with Ms. Quinn, meet me there?"
"Yeah, I'll meet you there." He looks to Garrett. "What's your last hour?"
"Auto." He replies blankly.
"We'll pick you up before heading to the parking lot." Andy looks down at Jenny. "If you need me, I have my phone on me. Just shoot me a text and I'll be right there to text you."
Jenny nods before walking over to Garrett and the sound of the first bell ringing.
Garrett guides her to Calculus while Andy walks to his 5th hour. Garrett leaves her with a touch on her shoulder before he disappears to his next hour.
The end of the day comes faster then usual and the three of them walk to the parking lot. Garrett hopes into his car before rolling down his window and looking at Jenny.
"Tell Anderson to follow me," He say before backing out of the parking lot and waiting at the exit for Andy to follow him, which he does.
They drive out to the suburbs of the city, to what people would call 'getto' neighborhood. Garrett pulls up to a run down tiny house before turning his car off and stepping out of the vehicle. Andy pulls up behind him, shuts off the truck and hops out. Jenny stays in the truck until Andy comes over and opens the door for her. She grabs his arm nervously as they walk over to Garrett, who's waiting outside the wire fence protecting the house.
He walks over to them. "We should get inside," He looks around. "Quickly." He adds.
The three of them quickly enter the house. There's nothing inside, no furniture, no appliances, nothing. The only thing that my feel somewhat homey is the door to the basement.
Jenny shallows audibly. "Please just explain yourself so we can get outta here."
Garrett nods. "First, I am a drug dealer. Second, I'm only a drug dealer because my father sells them."
Andy scoffs. "So, you're saying it runs in the family?"
Garrett shakes his head. "I'm saying that if I don't sell them for my dad there is going to be a lot of clients after my family."
"Is he like a gang leader?" Jenny asks.
"Kinda," Garrett sighs. "It's hard to explain what it's like being part of the whole thing."
Jenny stares at Garrett. "You do it because you have to?"
Garrett nods. "I wouldn't do it if it weren't for my family."
Jenny looks at Andy. "Can we go now? I got what I wanted."
Andy looks at Garrett. "Is that all?"
Garrett nods. "Just...dont tell anyone...please."
Andy nods before leading Jenny out of the house, only to be met at gunpoint. Andy pushes Jenny behind him and stares down the barrel.
"Where's Reynolds?"
