Last Night

Chapter 2

I woke up to Nick screaming at me from his room.

I got up and showered. I did my hair and put on my school uniform. My school uniform was actually quite ugly. It was a purple and white checked dress with a piece of fabric pulling the dress tight at the back. I pulled on my school shoes and jumped down the stairs; I walked into the kitchen and sat on the counter. I waited for Nick to finish making his breakfast so I could make mine. As he finished I jumped off the bench and went to the pantry.

“I already made you breakfast.” Nick says from behind me. I turn around and see 2 pieces of toast with Nutella. My favourite!  I finished breakfast and said goodbye to Nick. I grabbed my bag and my phone and waited for Luke on the curb. I had only just sat down as I saw him walking towards me, so I jumped back up and went to hug him. He was next to a tree as I put my arms around him and as I pulled out of the hug my bracelets got caught on the branch, the same bracelets I had used to cover up my cuts. Luke leans over to help but I step in the way so he can’t. I don’t want him to know about it. I get the bracelets loose and turn around to see him, looking at me weirdly.

“What?” I ask breathless.

“Nothing, you just normally let me help you, that’s all.” He says.

I shrug and we walk to school together, we go to my locker first and then to his, we wait at his locker since the bell hasn’t gone yet. The bell goes and we hurry to go to class. We had Art first. I kind of suck at art, but Luke is really good at it so we sit together and he helps me. Calum sits on my other side and he asks why I wasn’t at school on Friday. I tell him that I wanted to spend some time with my mum and he looks confused. I tell him how my mum is sick and basically lives in hospital now. He looks at me empathetically.

“Please don’t look at me like I’m a kicked puppy.” I say but he still looks at me like I’m broken.

We make plans to go to the beach on Wednesday because we have a day off. I told them I thought everybody should bring a +1 to make it more interesting. They all agreed and then I freaked out. I have nobody to +1. I decide to invite Kylie from Dancing. But thankfully she says no. I really only invited her so I didn’t look like a complete loner. I knew she would say no.
