Last Night

Chapter 3

Luke, Calum, Ashton, Sebastian, Michael and I went in my brother’s car. While our +1’s were making their own way there. When we arrived Nick gave me $20 and told me to text him when we wanted to go home. I grabbed my bag and jumped out of the car thanking Nick for driving us.

We found a bare patch of beach and put our stuff down. I laid out my towel and took of my jeans and top leaving me in my bikini. I heard Calum laugh and saw Luke blushing. I sat down on my towel next to Calum.

“Hey Calum, why was Luke blushing and why were you laughing?”

“Because he has a crush on you and when he saw you he went bright red and it was hilarious.”

“Okay.” It took a few seconds but then it hit me. “Wait… Luke has a crush, on me?” I asked.

“Well yeah. But I wasn’t supposed to tell you.” Calum shrugs as if this wasn’t a big deal.

“Are you being serious?” I asked him.

“Umm… yes. Why?” He asked.

“Because I cannot believe he has a crush on me.”

“So who do you like?” Calum queries, god he is nosy, but I decide to tell him anyway.

“Well, I like Luke, but don’t tell him because I don’t want to lose our friendship over a little crush.” I confess

“His crush isn’t that little.” Calum tells me. “He’s liked you since Kiara dumped him.”

I go quiet, because honestly, what do you say to that? I sit there thinking about everything when our +1’s arrive. Calum invited his cousin Madi, because he thought we were friends. Michael Invited his girlfriend Jenny, Ashton invited this guy called Tom, Sebastian’s +1 never showed up, and Madi took advantage of that and was all over him and lastly Luke invited Molly. Seriously? I didn’t realise it but Luke must’ve talked to someone when nobody was talking to me. And that must have been Molly; they were kind of already friends. Calum looks at me when he sees Molly, who threw herself at Luke. Luke just looked kind of awkward. I’m glad he was uncomfortable, why did he even invite her? I tense as Luke finally hugs Molly back. Calum notices and asks if I want to go for a walk. I say yes and as we walk. I tell him everything. I tell him how I am now socially retarded because of Molly; how I had no friends so I invited Kylie from dancing because I knew she’d say no. How mum is getting worse and Luke doesn’t even ask about her anymore. Like she’s already dead. Calum stops me when I say that.

“Is your mum terminal?” He asks. I can’t answer so I just nod and he pulls me into a hug. We start walking back and he tells me we can go home if I want I nod and text my brother. Calum calls Luke and asks him to make sure everything is packed up. But Luke says he’s going to stay behind with Molly.

Calum looks over at me and I feel even worse. Is he going to replace me? Please don’t Luke I love you.

Nick picks us up and drops us at home he tells me that he’s staying at a friend’s house and that I don’t have to go to school just in case something happens with mum. She’s getting worse every day. Calum stays and we have Pizza for dinner. I decide to text Luke.

Hey Luke :)

Can I stay at yours tonight?

Nick is at a friend’s. – Kenzie

Hey Kenz,

Sorry, Calum’s staying over already. – LUKEY

Oh, Okay.

I turn around to face Calum. “You didn’t tell me you were staying at Luke’s tonight.”

“I didn’t know I was.” He replies truthfully.
