i once watered my soul
with burnt out coal.
coal that had been passed from generation to generation for centuries.
but as i grew, i grew to know
that by using that burnt out coal,
i'd never reach my goals.
and so i changed.
i repotted my soul in a brand new pot
and invested in my very own spot.
a spot that would erase old thoughts
and bring in the new,
filter out the bad
and invite good news.
in my new place, i figured out a recipe
a recipe to create my very own water.
this water was made of love and laughter,
newfound positivity and honey sweet batter
in order to flourish your soul
know your goals
and forget your parents' control.
you are your own
create your own throne,
and from there your blossoming soul
will touch every goal."be your own you."
