mike:
you met in high school. he was a senior and you a junior. there was a pep rally in the gym, and you and your friend group had a temporary falling out, so you didn't know where to sit. you ended up sitting on the border between the senior and the junior side. when you say down, you looked up and next to you sat mike wheeler, the cute and geeky guy who was usually pretty reclusive. he looked back at you, and asked why you were alone. you were awkward at first, but soon would succumb to an entertaining conversation about the most random topics. the pep rally ended before you knew it, and the rest is history.

lucas:
you went alone to the carnival, and right when you arrived to the colorful park, you knew exactly which ride you wanted to enjoy first: the zipper; the most terrifying and exciting ride at the fair. you made your way to the back of the long, tiresome line, and waited for what seemed like hours until it was finally your turn to ride the intimidating machine. you approached the gate, but the stubborn carny refused to let anybody through without a second individual to accompany them. your face grew red and you panicked, ready to argue your way out of the situation, when an average sized, attractive man volunteered to attend the ride with you. you smiled, and hesitantly boarded the zipper, along with the handsome stranger. surprisingly, he was pretty shy, but the sudden adrenaline rush of the upward and downward jerks of the cart naturally broke the ice. when the ride came to a disappointing halt, he timidly asked if you wanted to spend the rest of the time at the fair with him, as he was alone, too. you said yes, and the rest of the night was the best you would have for a long time. until your next date, of course.

it was the annual town science fair in hawkins, where science geeks of all ages were encouraged to join in on the fun. you and your best friend, aria, worked for hours on a magnetic levitation project, from scratch. aria unfortunately got mono only a few days before the fair, leaving you to manage the tiny booth by yourself. when the date came, you woke up at 7am to meet at the convention to set up your project and table, two hours before the judges would arrive. as you were sitting on your phone waiting for the time to pass, it suddenly died, and you forgot to bring your charger. you looked around the convention helplessly, until you made eye contact with the cute, goofy looking guy in the booth next to you. he caught you staring, and so it wouldn't be totally awkward, you asked if he had a charger. he gave a warm, cordial smile which could make any girl (or guy)'s heart melt. "sure!" he chuckled. "i always carry one with me!" he dug around in his backpack, then handed you a bright, neon yellow portable charger. while you were waiting for it to charge up, you made small talk and discovered his booths topic was robotics, and he had spent weeks on building all of them, each having their own unique skill. you were so astonished and curious, as robotics had been a subject you were so fascinated about. you both had been talking for so long that before you knew it your phone was fully charged, and the fair began to start. by the end of the day, he deservingly wore a blue first place ribbon, and you a third. you were both so proud of each other. he asked for your number, for science related purposes. let's just say those conversations they had over the phone weren't "science related" at all, and you two adorable nerds had begun to crush on one another.

the time was 2am on a saturday, and you found yourself at your local walmart buying art supplies instead of partying with your close friends. you wore a comfy hoodie and booty shorts, not caring enough to put some decent clothing on. you navigated your way through the maze of aisles until you found the canvas. perfect. you discovered the exact one you needed. ill just grab this and g-" your eyes landed on a pale artsy boy, who dressed in a grey, paint stained hard rock cafe tee and tattered denim jeans. based on your observations, his eyes were wandering over the small colored pencil selection. he looked confused and frustrated, having to decide between two different brands of pencils to buy. you then, being somewhat of an expert on this, decided to help him out a bit. "get this one." you spoke up, pointing to a metal tin filled with 45 neat colorful tools. "you get more for your money, and the quality is way better." his pupils met yours, and slightly dilated. a small, barely noticeable blush crept up through his light, pasty skin. "thanks." he picked up the package you had recommended. "you're an artist as well i assume?" you nodded, and told him all about how you were a freelance artist, who moved to hawkins from nyc to be closer to your mom. impressed, he enthusiastically asked more questions, and by the end of the night, by the time the city clock tower had struck 3am, you both exchanged numbers and left the superstore feeling somewhat more complete.
