It's Halloween! Halloween is the one time of the year when all the ghosts and goblins and Madonna look a likes can come out and party and no one says anything because there's people pretending to be ghosts and goblins and Madonna too. Now, I quite like going to school in fancy dress. I do it every year. This year I am a Queen. Not just any Queen though, no. A Queen from a fantasy novel. I'm not sure which one, but they all look the same anyway.
I'm wearing a long flowy skirt, a golden tank top with turquoise stars on it and my hair is even frizzier due to the fact I back combed it to fit around the crown I made last night. Oh and I'm only moving around my skateboard. It's not my skateboard, it's Nicky's. But I've taped the head of a unicorn on it to turn it into my steed.
When I met B she laughed at me. But she always laughs at me so I don't mind much. "Why the hell are you riding a unicorn?" she asked me.
"Why aren't you?!" I shot back from where I was sat on the board, scooting myself forward with my hands.
"That's not an argument, Nel." she countered. She's right. Poor Linton looks scared. He doesn't know what to do with himself. B solved that problem by handing him her books.
"Come to mine tonight." B told Linton.
"Okay!" he grinned. "Right after my club."
"What club is that?" I asked.
"We play a game called Goblopping!" he said excitedly. "It's a mix between hide and go seek, chess, basketball and Quidditch!"
"Really?" I asked brightly. Now I know Linton is obviously one biscuit short of a full packet and this was proved the other night when he told me he practically gets a hard on over a fast moving train. But I'm quite interested in this Goblopping.
"It's such fun! We don't have many members."
"How many?" I asked.
"Three... Including you if you joined." B said for him. She looked at me as if to say 'don't you dare'.
We reached the school and Linton seemed to be distracted by something. "Here you are, my angel." he told B and handed her her books.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"My friend has gotten some information about the squirrel-matula."
"What's that?" B frowned.
"Half squirrel, half spider. A mad old professor in Bermuda is breeding them." he said happily. He pecked B on the lips and hurried away to his strange little friends.
"Mad as a hater." I stated.
"Totally. But he's good at carrying my stuff. Plus he's more funny than odd." B explained.
"I'll still go with odd."
"You are odd, you turnip. Now let's get to home room." she said easily.
We walked inside school and made our way to home room. I still got put down as late even though I was early. I don't think my teacher likes me much. It's probably because I was the one who told her when her wig was falling off. She has a vendetta against me now.
After I had Chemistry. I like this class. Not because I'm good at it or anything. But because B and I are usually partners. My teacher knows that she's the only one that will make me work effectively, I think.
We sat down and my teacher started shuffling his papers. "I'll be putting you in twos. Your instructions are on the board!" he called. "Okay... Rebecca and Tony." Tony didn't say anything as he grabbed his stuff and came over to sit next to B. She didn't seem to mind either. Hmm. Not usual behaviour for someone who has an odd boyfriend. Where is Linton by the way? Maybe he's too engrossed in the squirrel spider to come to class. "Cassie and Jaime!" Oh no. Cassie looks angry about this. Jaime literally bounced over to Cassie. He keeps grinning too. He looks like a spider squirrel minus the spider bit. "Nelissa and Mike!" Oh that's me. I went over to Mike's table and jumped up to sit on the edge. I never fell either. Bonus.
