Beth was right, we should be doing something. However, it was hard to find out where exactly all the mentioned crazy vampires were hiding as more and more did disappear, though nobody knew where they were going. Sam and I sat down in the kitchen with his laptop, doing some research, while Castiel and Dean were driving around the city and Mick and Beth were on their way from vampire friend to vampire friend, trying to find as many clues as possible.
After hours and hours, Sam slammed his head down on the kitchen table and sighed. "I really hope the others have more to present than we have. It's like they just vanished."
"Knowing they must be planning something crazy, not finding a single clue about their whereabouts makes my skin crawl", I concurred with him and sighed as well. "Beth isn't picking up her phone, I really hope it's just because they are busy."
"Neither does Dean", Sam said with a look at his smartphone. "I'm kinda getting worried here."
I groaned and took his laptop, scrolling through all the opened tabs again and again. "No suspicious murders, no vampire bites, nothing. Just the missing persons cases without any kind of clue. It's like they are hiding in another dimension or something."
Sam's head shot up and he stared at me. "Another dimension?"
"I was joking...", I mumbled, but Sam shook his head and grabbed his laptop again. "I remember when we went through a portal into another dimension. What if there is one here? To a place for them to hide until whatever their plan was is to come true?"
I scrunched my nose, tilting my head. "Are you serious?"
Sam shrugged, though his eyes glistened with new motivation. "It's a possibility. Which would mean we've been looking for the wrong signs all along. We need to look for areas with strange energies, power supply occurrences, weird wiped out spots in the open nature..."
"Sounds good", I agreed and Sam smiled. "Good. Let's start."

"A parallel universe?" Beth sunk into the material of my armchair. "So much..."
"I know it's hard to process, but think about it", I rolled out a map of our city and glanced at everyone in the room. "Sam and I have been looking for signs for exactly that. And, voilà. A whole family drops dead while the father mows the lawn because his mower's power increased so much the whole house was struck by a massive electric shock. People report all their metal belongings fly and stick against one particular wall made of wood. Birds circling an area in the woods without being able to enter because an 'invisible barrier' bars them from doing so. It all adds up to", I pushed my finger down at the map, "this forest. If there is a portal, it has to be there."
"This is weirder than Dean's face", Beth mumbled dryly and ignored Dean's offended "Hey?!", getting up and standing next to me. "So we gotta go there and find— find what? A door?"
"It can be anything", Sam jumped in, all business. "It can be a string of light in the middle of the air, it can be a door, it can also be one wrong— or right— step and you've entered another dimension."
Castiel coughed quietly to gain our attention. "But...", he looked at me, which made me furrow my brows in alarm, "it can also be a spell or something, which, if that' is the case, we might need some professional help with."
It took a few moments before I choked out a "No!" and Castiel's and my stare down was interrupted by Mick. "Professional help?"
"What do you mean no?", Dean added and I sighed.
"I will not face my mother to find a fucking portal."
"I'm confused, would anybody explain what's going on?", Beth asked and before I could even answer, Castiel bluntly blurted out, "Rowena is the only witch we are on more or less good terms with."
