"So, Mick St. John, huh?"

I was sitting in the passenger seat of Dean's '67 Chevy Impala and tapped the headboard to the beat of the music when Dean decided to start some smalltalk. I looked over at the man and nodded. "I think. Never met him personally, but Beth trusts him, so."

"Well, he'll better know damn well where to find Sammy", Dean's knuckles turned white as he forcefully wrapped his fingers around the steering wheel, "her fancy vampire detective."

"You know, you could always just go and find your brother yourself", I suggested dryly, earning nothing more than a bitchy stare in return.

"Sam's gonna be fine." After a while of silence, I pressed my forehead against the cold material of the car window and watched the dust from my breath form a wet spot right were my lips were. "You've survived worse, right?"

Dean glanced over at me, guiding the car into a side road. "Well, yeah."

"See. He doesn't strike me as clueless, he'll know how to survive until we arrive."

"Do you have siblings?" Dean had his narrowed eyes focused on the dark road ahead of us. No street lights, no houses, exactly that kind of place you would assume a vampire to bring his victims to.

I sigh, here we go again. "Not exactly."

"What do you mean, not exactly?"

I put him off, "I don't know any of my siblings, so. Not really."

"You've never been curious about them?", Dean asked, maneuvering his beloved Impala through the muddy road with a groan at the dirt that coated the varnish of his car.

"About as curious as you were", I said, I couldn't care less if I sounded like I knew a lot more about their lives than I should. "Tell me, where's Adam?"

The horror in Dean's face made it hard for me to hold back my laughter. "Ah, yeah, that guy... yo, how do you know about him anyw—"

The laughter I had held back finally made its way to the surface, bubbling past my lips. "Did you just say yo?"

Dean grunted and turned his head, a small grin he couldn't possibly suppress decorating his lips. "I think I delivered it."

"Of course you do." I looked at the path ahead and spotted two figures, urging Dean to park his car. "I think that's the place. See, there's Beth."

"And I assume that's her vampire daddy", Dean grumbled and parked his car, addressing the vampire with suspicious glances while doing so.

"Remember I can beat your ass when you step out of that car", I said and leaned my back into the seat, tilting my head to look at Dean. "Be polite, you know, like a civilian."

"I'll do my best."

***

He did not act like a civilian. Dean's expression was still grumpy when he closed his hand around the wooden stake Mick had offered him and, for a second, looked like he was gonna push it into the body of Beth's savior instead. Luckily, he didn't.

Before we entered the dark building, I gave Beth a firm hug and patted her shoulder. "You be safe out here on your own, okay? I'll get you into the basics of hunting after this is over, promise."

Beth locked her pinky with mine and nodded. "Yeah. Take care of yourselves, yeah?"

"Anytime." I flashed a grin and saluted before I tightened the sleeves of my leather jacket around my waist and hurried to catch up with the two men that were dead silent, waiting for me.
