It was dinner time. Everyone was gathered together at the dinning table.

"The prince's will be arriving in one week. Are you excited Avelee?" Asked mom.

"I guess so." I personally wasn't the most excited. I mean three guys coming to the palace, and I had to pick one to marry. What kind of game is this?

"I'm so excited that Cole gets to live with us for awhile. You totally should marry him. He's my best bro." Elijah gleamed.

"Son. Talk normally. Quit it with the slang." Dad testified.

"Yeah yeah."

"When will I get the opportunity to have prince's come live with us for me?"

"When you are old enough my sweet Oaklynn." Mom replied.

Dinner was finished. I was in my bedroom playing piano. I'm trying to create my own song but can't seem to find the right chords. I got up off the piano bench and looked out my window. The sun was still shining, and the birds chirping. I decided it would be good to get some fresh air.

I walked downstairs and outside in the gardens. As I was admiring a rose I heard a cough. It was from Elijah. He was sitting on a bench behind a bush and smoking.

"You know, you really got to quit that." I said as I sat down beside him.

"It's not that simple."

"Cole got you started didn't he?"

"It doesn't matter who got me started."

"Okay. You know you don't got to be so angry with me all the time. Angry at the world."

"I'm not." He started to cough again.

"God you're going to die of lung cancer before you're even thirty."

"Leave me alone. I can do what I please. If that's how life goes for me, then so be it."

"I'll gladly leave you alone. You aren't a pleasure to be around anyways."

I got up off the bench and walked towards the kingdom. Elijah completely ruined my mood. He could at least show me some kindness for not telling anybody that he smokes. Mom and dad would kill him if they knew.

As I was going inside, I spotted Oaklynn talking to some boy. I stood there for a second discreetly watching. They finished talking and parted ways. Oaklynn turned around and saw me standing there.

"Who was that?" I said as she approached me.

"His name's Eric. Were you spying on me?"

"Maybe?"

"Why do you get to have a love life and I don't?"

"I never said you couldn't. But when I see my little sister talking to a guy, I get suspicious is all."

"Do me a little favor and stop being so nosy. It's infuriating."

"Okay okay. I'm sorry. Just be careful is all." I frowned.

Oaklynn walked off inside the palace. I slowly followed behind her. I am going to go to my moms art studio. That's where she spends most of her time.

"Hey mom." I said.

Mom was painting a picture of some island.

"Hello dear. How's it look so far?"

"Beautiful." I smiled.

"Is everything okay?" Mom asked.

She was the only person that could tell something was wrong without any words needed.

"I don't know. I guess it's just I'm nervous for the prince's to come. And Oaklynn. She's talking to all these random boys around the village. It could be dangerous."

"I know. I keep having chats with her about it. But I guess it's healthy at her age. She's just a little bit boy crazy is all. And with the prince's they are all probably really nervous as well dear. It'll all be okay."

"When you met dad. It was the same thing right? You were a princess from the?"

"Princess of the east. I remember thinking I had no chance with your father. I was against two other very beautiful woman."

"But dad picked you."

"Indeed he did. It wasn't easy at first. But he quickly realized that I was the one. And you will do the same with these fine candidates. Although, I'm not sure I'm really routing much for Cole."

"Yeah he's a drinker, a smoker. Nothing special really in my opinion."

"Yeah. He's a very bad influence on Elijah. And then probably a bad influence on your children."

"My children?"

"I'm talking in the future Avelee. I'm sure you'll have kids one day."

"And if I don't?"

"Then you don't." Mom put her brush down and finally turned to face me.

"Why don't we go to the kitchen and get some ice cream. You seem like you could use it."

"Sure."

Mom stood up and put her arm over my shoulder, slowly guiding me to the kitchen.
