"People are scared of the unknown because they don't want to believe that there is something more out there."All I could hear was my erratic heartbeat and my own steps as I made my way towards the door.
Something in my gut tugged as I grew closer to the door, but I couldn't pinpoint what it was.
Coming face to face with the old door, I hesitated. I knew Daniel to be curious, but I knew he wouldn't do anything that would put us in danger. Or at least I hope.
Sucking in a deep breath, I grasped onto the cool metal ring of the door and pulled. The door groaned in protest, but moved otherwise.
Light blinded me as I came to realize that this wasn't just some random building in the forest.
"What the hell?" I mumbled, gazing at the all white room before me.
My eyes immediately zoned on Daniel, dirty footprints leading up to where he stood in front of the glass.
"Danny, what the hell are you doing?" I hissed, making my way towards him. As soon as I stepped into the room, something in the air shifted.
Danny suddenly froze, his eyes locked onto something in front of him. I slowly made my way around him, freezing as I realized what he was staring at.
On the other side of the glass laid bodies upon bodies of skeletons, stacked up against the wall as rats scrambled over them.
This isn't what made my stomach flip, it's what was behind the skeletons did.
Behind them peaked a huge metal door, some kind of writing framing it.
I was so distracted at the sight before me that I didn't see Danny move.
I realized a little too late what he was doing until it was done. Glass shattered and pierced my skin, snagging my clothes as the glass wall collapsed and there was nothing separating us from the bodies.
"Are you fucking crazy?" I spoke, still dazed at what he just done. Hissing, I glanced down to see a huge gash on my forearm that had began gushing blood.
Quickly tearing my shirt off, I clasped it onto my forearm. Daniel just stood there watching the bodies, not flinching even though he himself had gotten cut, a gash on his forehead starting to bleed.
This was when I realized something was seriously wrong.
"Daniel?" I stepped in front of him, trying to get his attention. Danny didn't even blink as I did so, his eyes glazed over as if he was transfixed on something.
"Danny, I think we should le-" I began, gently resting unharmed hand on Danny's shoulder. As soon as my hand came into contact with him, he snapped.
I flew back onto the ground, groaning on impact and winced at the glass that dug into my back. This didn't deter Danny at all, something inside of him was out for blood.
"Danny, stop!" I yelled, cradling my arm that had began to bleed even more. He ignored what I said and quickly pounced on me, aiming for my face.
Blocking his fists, I began to worry as he didn't stop his attacks. Bucking my hips, sending Danny off of me, I pushed myself off of the ground and slowly backed away from Danny.
He had began shaking, the gash on his forehead coated his face with blood. My eyes widened as his body coiled up, getting ready to pounce at me again.
Just as he had began running towards me, something glinted in the corner of my eye. Stumbling to the side, narrowly missing his fists, I reached out to grasp the metal object that was just sitting in the metal trey above the bodies.
Searing pain erupted from my side as I got pinned to the wall, my head cracking against the cool cement. Black dots invaded my vision as my head began to throb, barely able to make out what Danny was doing.
"Danny, stop." I croaked out, ignoring the dizziness I felt I pushed myself to stop him. Finding a new strength, I grabbed Danny who had been focused on something on the wall and threw him back.
He crashed into the metal trey, knocking the contents onto the ground. Rushing over before he got the chance to get up, I locked my arms around his neck to try and stop his advancements and fighting.
Hissing as he began clawing at my arms, I tightened my hold as he thrashed around. Something was compelling him to that door and I'm sure as hell not going to let him go near it.
Pain erupted up my arm and a scream ripped past my lips as Daniel bit into the gash on my forearm.
My grip quickly loosened as I pushed him away, cradling my forearm that was coated in blood.
Daniel turned to me, standing up as if he could care less about the wounds on his body. His face was smeared with blood, fresh blood running past his lips and dribbling down his chin from my wound.
My breath got caught in my throat as I glared into his eyes, a realization dawned on me then.
As he stared back at me void of emotion, his eyes so dilated that you could only see black; I realized that this was no longer Daniel.
"The day has come where they are freed from their cages." A deep voice spoke, coming from Daniel but sounding nothing like him.
I shuddered as I watched him stare at me, like he could see right through me. This is not the loving and goofy Daniel I know, this was something not human.
I remained frozen as I watched him make his way back towards the door, carelessly walking over the bones of the people that lived on the ground.
He reached the door and all but tore the bodies away, exposing the rest of the writing on the door. I watched as he reached out and skimmed over the letters, reciting it by heart before he grabbed something on the door.
The ground began shaking violently as his voice grew louder, chanting something that I couldn't understand. The man in front of me reached inside of the tiny opening that the door created as the ground began shaking more.
Snapping out of my stupor, I struggle to push myself to my feet as the ground shakes and groans under me.
My ears begin to ring as my vision hollows, watching the man pull his hand back and something glints in his hand.
All at once, the shaking and ringing stops and I hold my breath as I realize what he's about to do.
"No!" A scream tears through my throat as I launch myself forward, ignoring the pain that ignited within me from the movements.
Suddenly, as if time slowed, I watch as Daniel brings the knife up to his neck and our eyes lock.
"και το αίμα δεσμεύεται."
Daniel whispers before he slits his throat, his body standing rigid for a moment before falling back onto the bodies of bones.
