Chapter Two

The first sound was the one of a heart monitor, it's beeping seeming far away in her mind. It slowly got closer and closer, intensifying until her eyelids flicked open. Then it was gone. She was staring at a white roof and looks around spotting white walls as well. Catherine attempted to sit up but felt a piercing pain in her head almost instantly, she groans and places her hand on her head. "ow." She moaned to herself and looks around the room again.

Her eyes swept across the room, catching a counter accompanied by shelves in the corner across from her. There's a tray on the counter, there's what appears to be bloody clothing there. Directly across from where she lay, there was a door. It appeared dark silver and was rectangular in shape but a lot larger then any door she knew. The same was said for the bed, it was near twice her size.

She moves a white cloth off her body which was surprisingly comfortable, finding herself in different clothing. Wearing simply a brown halter top which just covered her breasts and a matching tan brown skirt type thing. She swallowed hard, what the hell type of hospital clothing was this?

Catherine swung her legs to the edge of the bed, noting how high off the ground it was. She slowly lowered down until her feet were flat on the ground. With a grunt she tried to push herself to stand but immediately felt her legs give and she fell onto her knees, crumbling to her side as her hands couldn't even support her fall.

Catherine let out a pained cry, she couldn't move as much as she tried to. It felt like concrete had been tied to her legs, weighing her down onto the ground. Her head could barely even support herself. She jumped at the sound of the heart monitor going flat, a long beep surrounding the room. She barely noticed the small hole in her arm, an IV that was there was gone now. She hears a door slide open and jerks her head up seeing a huge creature.

It stood about seven or eight feet up and was very muscular by the looks of it. From what she could see, it had a mixture of rough or scaly skin, it was primarily light brown though had darker areas. Its hands had black sharp claws on them, the same thing is on its feet as well. It was easy to spot as the creature wore no shoes. It was wearing a loincloth similar to hers but is barechested so she can tell he's a male. His face though is what initially disturbed her the most. His mouth had mandibles around it in four corners, behind them were razor-sharp teeth. He had darker brown spots on the cheeks of his face and has deep gold eyes that are staring right at her. He had a crested forehead with small spikes around it with a sharpish edge.

She found herself powerless to move, the weight never ceased. The thing knelt down beside her, she choked back a cry. This was it. This was how she'd die. At the hands of a freaking alien. When the hand made contact to her skin she trembled, shutting her eyes as if she expected to wake up in her apartment.

The hand was gentle on her shoulder, she could hear a grumble then what sounded like it clearing its throat. "Calm ooman." The voice soothed, her heart almost stopping at the English that he spoke. A small gasp escaped her, did he just speak English? He couldn't of! A freaking alien couldn't speak English!

The creature picked her up, she immediately objected, sputtering from shock mixed from his sudden ability to speak English and picking her up. "The hell-?! Put me down!" She sharply argued yet her attempt at assertiveness was futile and the male released a deep, rumbling, clicking sound.

The closest thing she could relate the sound to was humour. This alien was amused with her. It dropped her onto the bed then stepped back with narrowed golden eyes.

She bit her lip from the pain that spread over her body when she forced herself to move. Making herself scoot to the edge of the bed, which took some effort because of how big it was. She had no intention to be near the creature, her heart drummed in her ears. She felt like her heart may burst from her chest.
