Chapter 5

~ ~

Eden managed to find the pad to change the temperature, it was in the nightstand. The one place she hadn't checked. Least to say Catherine could tell she was pretty ticked off.

Eventually, she left, Catherine enjoying the cool temperatures that had flooded into the room. When looking around, she did feel some urges to try and explore this new room, but she was nervous to try and stand. She hadn't for weeks, and both Blue and Gwan advised against it. She could barely support herself and doubted she could at all without Eden's help.

The softness of the blankets eventually got the better of her, Catherine dozing off without realizing. She woke up to rustling in the bed, feeling consciousness slowly return to her. She tucked her head into the blankets, heaving a sigh as she ignored it, thinking it was either her leg or just her head.

That was until there was a dip in the bed, Catherine slowly raising her head as she opened her eyes. Feeling something next to her, she looked to her side, seeing a shadow in the darkroom.

The next thing she knew she was on the floor, after having just screamed from whatever was next to her. It sure as hell wasn't Eden that's for sure. Pain enveloped her left hand, causing her to let out a string of curses as she gripped her hand with her right one. Even though it was dark in the room she could tell the staples in her hand were not doing good, not to mention she could feel it wet.

"You okay?" She recognized Blue's voice, laced in concern as she could see a shape come from the side of the bed and towards her.

Catherine's head tilted, "what..?" She whispered, not believing it was Blue who had slipped into the bed next to her. Doubting herself, it couldn't have been him! Could it? A light flicked on, having her arm throw up and shield her face. Her eyes squeezed shut from how bright it was.

She groaned, "turn the light off it's too damn bright," she inhaled sharply as she slowly tried to sit up.

There was a small chuffing like noise in front of her, feeling a larger hand try to grasp at her wrist. She blindly tried to swat at the hand, shaking her head as she slowly tried to look around. Though it was still too bright.

"Let me look, your hand." The Blue said, a mix of concern yet stubbornness in his voice. She grimaced as she stilled herself, feeling him slowly grab her wrist and turning it over. She didn't hear it any reaction, hoping it didn't look too bad. When she felt a clawed finger touch along it she pulled her hand away, a small whimper escaping her towards the pain.

Slowly, she tried to pull her hands away to see the room. Despite it being very bright she managed to do it, blinking. Seeing Blue's face staring at her, his hands pulled back, no longer touching her. He was a few feet away now and he says something. In that language, his mandibles clicking together as he spoke like they were apart of the language too.

"Are you hurt? Other than your hand?" He slowly speaks in English, reaching to run his hand over her arm in a gentle manner. She can tell he's trying to comfort her, letting out a breath as she slowly sits up and against the wall behind her. Catherine licked her lips as she tried to calm down, keeping an eye on him as she steadied herself.

If she was hurt anywhere else she couldn't feel it. The only thing she could was the tingly fiery pain in her left palm, that reignited every time she touched it. So she shakes her head, telling Blue how it was only her hand. She looks at her hand, her lips pursing slightly once seeing the broken staples. A few gone and one hanging lopsided, a good portion of her palm was covered in dark maroon blood that glistened in the light of the room.
