well one thing one was certain. he was like no one i had ever met before. while he was cocky and extravagant, there was something about him that drew you in made you smile. i was now doing just that.

after he had told me about his album, we got to talking about his music. when i mentioned i hadn't ever heard of him, he came and sat next to me and played a couple of his songs for me. in order to hear his phone speaker over the club music, i leaned closer to him, and he held his phone to my ear. we were close enough to each other that i could feel the warmth coming off of him. i found myself missing it when the songs were over and we had put a little bit of space between us again.

he was now telling me some of his favorite stories from his various tours. most of them involved him fucking around with his friends or the crazy shit that he did on stage. the excitement and energy that he had as he was speaking made me smile. you could see that he truly enjoyed what he did.

just after finishing up one of his stories, he leaned towards me a bit and gently bumped his leg against mine. "now i wanna hear about you."

"why? my life is nothing compared to yours."

"oh come on luci. i'm just curious."

i looked at mat out of the corner of my eyes, then let out a sigh and rolled my eyes. "well..."

i had just opened my mouth to begin telling mat about myself when i was rudely interrupted by someone yelling my name. more specifically, by watson's wasted ass yelling "lucinda!!" as he stumbled his way over.

mortified, i sank into the couch, barely catching the sound of mat's voice asking "lucinda?" before all i heard was watson blabbering nonsense. he was speaking so loudly and so quickly that i couldn't make out a single word he was saying.

"watson!" i cut him off and he stopped mid sentence. he was now looking at me with his mouth slightly open. "i'm right here. you don't need to yell. and slow down, would you?"

apparently watson took that as his cue to get right in my face and whisper yell. i suppose he was being quieter, which is what i had asked, but drunk watson had zero sense of personal space. "you do know who that is, don't you?" he asked, pointing to mat.

i looked over at him. he was leaned back onto the couch, his arms resting on the top of it. the amused, almost self satisfied look on his face told me that he could still hear what was going on despite watson's so-called "whispering." i returned my gaze to watson.

"yes."

"it's blackbear." he took a hold of my shoulders and shook me as he spoke. i silently prayed that he wouldn't accidentally give me whiplash. "the blackbear. you're talking to the blackbear."

i heard a chuckle come from beside me. "well at least someone knows who i am," mat teased.

watson was now looking at mat with an awestruck look on his face. "holy shit. i'm talking to blackbear." watson then fell to his knees and looked as if he were about to start worshipping the ground at mat's feet.

"oh my god," i muttered to myself. i stood up from the couch and grabbed watson's arm, doing my best to pull him up from the ground. i sent mat an apologetic look. "i am so sorry. he's not normally like this. he's just very drunk."

"i believe you," mat laughed. he watched as i was struggling to get watson back on his feet. "do you need any help?"

with one last tug, i was able to get watson up. i draped his arm around my shoulders and did my best to support his weight. he was still blabbering on about blackbear, and i think he was crying. man, was he hammered.

"no, i think i've got him," i said, flashing him a quick grin. i hope it came off as reassuring. "but i think we're gonna get out of here. it was nice to meet you."

mat's face fell at my words and he leaned forward. "what? but you were just about to tell me about yourself."

"i know. i'm sorry. i just really need to get him home."

"let me at least help you get him outside." before i could protest, mat was on his feet. he slung watson's other arm around his shoulders and placed his own arm around watson's waist to help support him.

deciding i would rather accept the help than continue to struggle with supporting watson's weight, we carefully started moving. somehow we ended up outside and were now waiting on our uber to pull up.

"you know, you can go back inside if you want. i can handle him from here," i said, breaking the silence. well that is if you could call watson's incoherent mumbling silence.

"are you kidding? i'm not gonna leave just to have him fall over and crush you. besides, i think your rides here."

he was right. the car that was pulling up to the curb was the uber i had ordered. mat helped me get watson into the car. i thanked him for his help and apologized for watson's behavior before turning to get into the car myself. i closed the door behind me, told the driver the address, then gave one last smile and a small wave to mat.

a part of me wished that i could have stayed and continued talking to him. from the little bit of conversation that i had shared with him, he seemed to be a nice guy, especially for someone with a following like he had.

as we drove away, increasing the distance between he and i, i wondered if i would ever get the chance to talk to him again. of course i had his name, but he wasn't like normal people. i couldn't just look him up in the phone book and give him a call.

at this point, i wasn't even sure if i was ever going to see him again.
