"i can't believe i let you talk me into this."
all i got in response was a short chuckle. "come on lu. i promise you'll have fun."
i gave the tall man next to me a quick glare out of the corner of my eye. somehow i had let him convince me that i was a great idea for me to go out with him tonight.
"oh come on, what will a couple hours hurt?"
why those famous last words were the ones that finally convinced me, i'll never know. but here we were, standing in line to get into some club that i didn't even know the name of.
"fun? yes, sitting in a corner sipping on my glass of water while you find yourself your next fling is going to be so much fun." i said sourly.
"water? who said anything about water?" he teased, a deviant sparkle in his eyes.
i scoffed. watson had always been a drinker. and because he drank, he was always trying to get me to do the same. he might be my best friend, but there were some things that he couldn't get to me say yes to.
"i did, watson. you know i don't drink."
in response, he let out a disappointed sigh. "yeah, yeah. bad for your mental state or whatever, i know. i just think it would help you loosen up a little bit."
"i don't need to 'loosen up'" i said, rolling my eyes.
a smirk worked its way onto watson's lips, telling me that he thought otherwise. "lucinda green, you are hopeless." he sighed.
i shot another glare his way. "luci. it's luci."
"whatever you say lucinda."
watson was lucky that we had just reached the front of the line and were asked to show our ids. otherwise i would of had some harsh words for him. i guess that would have to wait for another time, perhaps when there wasn't ungodly loud music making it impossible for me to form whole thoughts.
i was just proud of myself for being able to come up with the idea to hold onto watson's arm so i wouldn't lose him as he easily made his way through the sweaty, questionably dressed people that filled the building we had just entered. i was too short to see over the crowd we had submerged ourselves in, so i was led blindly to the bar. i should have known this is where he was taking me.
before i could make any sort of protest, watson had already called over the bartender and ordered two shots of liquor, one for each of us. i stared at watson sternly. "not happening."
watson returned my look with an even sterner one, then took my hand and placed one of the very full shot glasses in it before grabbing his own glass. "it's happening. you either do it of your own free will or i will hold you down and force it down your throat."
"i'm flattered watson, but i've already told you. we're just friends."
"ha ha," he said dryly. "not funny. now take the damn shot."
i looked down at the small glass in my hand, then back up to watson and blinked innocently. "don't i already have it?"
at this, watson let out a groan that caused a satisfied smile to spread across my lips. "oh would you just give that to me. it looks like this is gonna be a long night." watson then proceeded to down his own shot, then take mine out of my hand and do the same.
"i think we can both agree on that one."
