A/n: So this oneshot was inspired by "Out Loud" by Gabbie Hanna, a song that I absolutely love and hold dear to my heart. I guess this could be considered a song fic since the lyrics are in the story, but anyways enough with my rambling and let's get on with the story.

Also this is pretty sad my guys, hope y'all enjoy this story ^^

The characters in this oneshot are also aged up to the ages of around early thirties. Well if you don't count the flashbacks.

There Pidge lay in her bed, wide awake and staring at the ceiling for the 10th night in a row. It wasn't only her bed though it was their bed...... but the other person wasn't there anymore. The bed that once felt warm and small, now only felt huge and cold no matter how many blankets covered her body.

"I still taste your presence,
once sweet but it turned sour."

It had been at least 2 years since his passing but sleeping alone was still hard for Pidge . The grief and sadness continued to follow her although she should have gotten over his death already. A very lively, kind, caring and overall amazing man, gone in a instant. It never hit her how easily she could loose someone she held so dear and close to her heart. She still couldn't fathom it.

"Tried to shake your indifference,
but it's too late now."

Reminiscing on the good times they shared was bittersweet, although it was nice to reminisce on them, it was bitter to face the reality of her one true love being gone, but this time not for a few seconds, minutes, hours.....he was gone permanently and no one could change that. Now she regrets all the arguments they had although they meant absolutely nothing and still don't mean a thing as they would always make up after.

"I hear you in the quiet,
I see you when I'm in the dark."

Sometimes Pidge would hear his voice or see his silhouette but she knew well that it was only in her mind and she hated that. She hated it so much that hate wasn't even a strong enough word. Maybe Despise could fit that category perfectly. If she could have given anything or done anything so that he could still be here. She would do it in a heartbeat, not caring the cost or how detrimental it would be for her or her wellbeing.

"You just couldn't fight for this,
but it's not your fault"

For his death, it was unexpected. no one could have guessed what could have gone wrong as the signs weren't obvious enough. He seemed to be on a great route of recovery... but things quickly took a turn for the worst. He still had so many years left of his life and then it was whisked away like a candle flame being blown out.

After staring at the ceiling for quite some time, Pidge started to get up and off of her bed as she couldn't sleep. Looking to the clock As it was already 3am. But she didn't mind as she ran mostly on coffee when she didn't get any sleep. Fond memories clouded her mind as tears welled up in her eyes. "It's been 2 years...... but I still miss him...." she spoke in a whisper as she stood upright, clutching a heart locket in her palm as the piece of jewelry hung from her neck. She then looked down into her hands and ever so carefully opened the locket. Inside was a picture of them. Her and Lance. It was their 1 year anniversary when he had taken her to a carnival when they were significantly younger. In the time the photo was taken, Both were around the age of 17 Now Pidge was 32. Oh how the time flew. Both of them were eating cotton candy as lance took the photograph on top of the Ferris wheel at nighttime. Fireworks could be seen in the background. It was overall a amazing shot. The picture was in perfect condition, less could be said about the silver locket around her neck, the silver was now dull and a few places were black after long time wear. The tears that welled up then started to fall as she looked at her hand, seeing the ring and band that was on her finger.
