"Let me go change!" Nyla whined, slapping away Pietro's hand as he reached for yet another candy from around her neck. She'd received a good amount of them from Tobias's family and although her own people had nothing of the sort, they all whispered the graduation gifts that were awaiting her back at the Compound. Tony's being his Audi was the most tempting and she was absolutely resolved to get behind the wheel of that sleek beauty.

"Stop eating her sweets!" Wanda snapped at her brother.

"Aww, what's one more KitKat?"

Nyla laughed and Natasha moved to help her take them off, handing them to Tony as she fluffed out her hair.

"Seriously, P, let me get out of this gown and you can eat all the candy you want."

"I'm holding you to that."

"Go, honey. We'll be waiting right here," Natasha said.

Nyla nodded and with Tobias at her side, ran back into the school building where the both of their belongings were stored in the locker rooms. It was still a bit early to be changing, but she was too buzzed with excitement to be standing around.

"Kalbi after?" Tobi called as she veered in the opposite direction towards the girls locker room. Nyla moved to walk backwards, giving him a thumbs up before he and his wild curls disappeared around the corner and right as she turned—

"Hey!"

Her angry protest at being blocked in the middle of an empty hallway came to a halt as she realized what had caused the blockage.

Or rather, who.

"Steve?"

A soft, but sad smile broke across his face and his ocean blue eyes swam with what she could only detect as tears before he rapidly blinked them away.

"I'm sorry we couldn't be in there, Rosie. With everything going on..."

"No. I understand. It's just..."she hesitated, different feelings pulling at her chest. Nyla was having a bit of a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that he was actually here.

It had been weeks since she'd last seen him and Sam and for good reason. Nyla heard about what happened in Bucharest. How the "old war buddy" of Steve Rogers had been the cause of the UN Vienna bombing, how he'd tried to hijack a copter and how volatile and dangerous he was to society. She knew how Steve and Sam would be gone from the Compound for days at a time in search of the man. And also, how Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson themselves were the reason why he got away.

But none of that changed the fact that they were family. That these two men had been there for her along with the rest of them from the very beginning.
