❛ ━━・❪ ❁ ❫ ・━━ ❜It had been a week since you had that conversation with Satoru. You were having a smooth recovery in the infirmary with Ieiri checking up on you every so often. She said you were free to go, but you wanted to stay in the room for a couple more days.
You were currently reading a book called, "Reason to Breathe." It was an angsty novel and it made you relax. It was something that you felt you could relate to. The pain and the way the characters were had you reflecting.
A few knocks on the door caused you to place the book down and glance at the person who stood in the doorway. It was only Ieiri. No one knew that you were in the infirmary besides her and Satoru.
You were still going through a hard time in life, but she was there to help you push through. There were moments when you wanted to give up so she made sure to lift your spirits. And you knew you wouldn't be able to leave Gojo by himself. Not only that, but you had a deal that you did not want to complete just yet.
"I got you your favorite food," she placed the tray on the bedside table once she made her way to the bed.
"Thanks, Ieiri. Any updates?" you ask as you place the book on the left side of your leg.
You cleared room off your legs to place the tray on them. You started to eat once you picked up the utensils and listened in on what she had to say. She brought news from everywhere even if it was meaningless to you.
"Y/N, I want to confess something right now," she sat down on the seat that was leaning against the wall.
You watched her as you chewed on your food. You took a few sips of your drink as well. You made sure to pay as much attention to what she was going to say in case it was really important.
"Do you remember how he found out? Well...you had two options of living," she paused as she saw that you had stopped eating, "he picked surgery. The one where I had to surgically remove the roots from your lungs."
You let your utensil slam onto the tray as your jaw stopped contracting. Your mouth wasn't chewing the food as you stared so deep into her tired eyes. You knew that there was something more to the conversation the week before and now you know.
"I don't understand," you furrow your eyebrows as you placed the tray back on the bedside table.
"You wouldn't be able to have the memories of him along with the feelings you had with him. If he picked the option to return your feelings then it would've removed the roots as a whole without hurting you," she explained to clear up the uncertainty written all over your face.
You slowly nodded as you thought for a moment. He was going to sacrifice the memories you had of him to save your life. It was better than dying and leaving him behind. And it made sense to know that he couldn't just reciprocate the feelings you had for him.
What hurt you the most was the fact that he was choosing the decision for you. It was like you had no say in how you wanted to live. It was your life on the line and it was in the hands of another. You curled your hands into fists at the thought of him taking control of your life.
He did have that control. There was nothing you could do to even stop or lessen the fact that he could just do that whenever. He was everything in your mind. He consumed every single part of you and your soul.
"I'm going for a walk," you said all of a sudden.
You throw the covers off your body. You let your toes touch the cold floor before your whole foot followed. You slid in slippers that were on the floor and exited the room. Ieiri didn't stop you since she knew you were well enough to take care of yourself. All you had to do was avoid the person who caused you harm.
You were in clean clothes, you had taken a shower not too long ago, and you were looking decently healthier than before. It was a sight that was bestowed upon the icy ones you saw about two-hundred meters away from you.
He was on the other side of the hall with a blank look on his face. He looked like a mess. More than how you looked before you were at the infirmary. It was a staring contest until you decided to take a step forward.
Though, he stepped back as you continued to make your way toward him. You knew he had to keep his distance, yet it still hurt to know that you couldn't even be so close as to hug him. You missed him so much. The way he held you in his arms that one time on the roof was engraved in the back of your mind.
You took a few more steps and then he decided to disappear from your sight. You were left alone and to breathe on your own. You exhale and make your way off of the school grounds. You were going to have a little walk again. At the same time, you met the fake Suguru.
You had your head lowered to the floor as you were walking. You stopped when your eyes met the feet of someone in particular. It wasn't like you intended to bump into him, but it looked like that just had to happen.
"I heard you almost died last week," he spoke as you just stood there unmoving, "word spreads quickly in the world of sorcerers."
You slowly let your head lift to meet his black eyes. He was staring deep into your soul with the intention hidden behind them. Even though, you knew damn well about what those intentions were since it was about you.
"Why don't you just die already? I'm getting impatient."
