Third person POV:

It was the next day and it was hot, Cherry and Jim were on their way to meet Joyce at her work place 'Melvald's General Store'.

"So what are you gonna talk to her about?" Cherry asks her brother. "I just need to vent to her about the kids." He replied. Cherry nodded, showing she understood. She knew he had a little thing for Joyce, and she knew Joyce felt the same.

They showed up to the front of the store and got out of the cruiser. They walked into the store where they saw Joyce putting a sale sign in the window. "Hey." Jim said. "Hey." She replied back. "Hey Joyce." Cherry said while waving with a smile on her face.

Joyce waved back to her with a small smile. "Are you busy?" Jim asked. "You're our first customer so..." She said while smiling.

Jim gave her a tight lipped smile back and nodding a little. Joyce scoffed and asked "What now?"

(Time skip, bc I can)

Cherry was sitting in the aisle while Jim was across from her while he vented to Joyce about El and Mike.

"And the El, she just...slams the door. Right in my face." He tells Joyce while she was marking the store items. Cherry snickers a little bit at the memory. Jim looks at her. "It's not funny." He tells her angrily.

"Its a little funny." She replies while still having a smile on her face. He gives her a look, and she puts her hands up in surrender.

"Uh huh." Joyce hums to show she's listening. "You know, it is that smug son of a bitch, Mike. He's corrupting her, I'm telling you." He tells Joyce. "And I'm just gonna lose it, I mean, I'm gonna lose it, Joyce." He says.

"Just take it down, Hopper." She tells him. "I need them to break up!" He argues. "That is not your decision." She scolds him while pointing a finger at him.

"They're spending entirely too much time together." He says to Joyce while getting up and walking to her. "You agree with me on that, right?" He asks Joyce.

"Well, I mean, their just kissing, right?" Joyce asks Jim while turning to look at him. "Yeah, but it is constant. It is constant." He argues back. Joyce turns around and rolls her eyes at him. "Ok, that is not normal, that is not healthy." He tells her while tossing something in his hand.

"Yeah, but you can't just force them apart." Joyce tells him. "I mean their not little kids anymore, Hop. Their teenagers. You order them like a cop, and their gonna rebel. It's just what they do." She explains to Jim.

"So what, I'm just supposed to do let them do whatever they want?" Jim asks her.

"No, I didn't say that. I think you should...talk to them." She replies. "No, no 'cause talking doesn't work." He says to her. "Not yelling. Not ordering. But talk to them." She tells him. "Yeah, just talk." Cherry says backing Joyce up.

Jim turns to her and points at her. "Stay out of this." Cherry just sticks her tongue out at him. "Real mature, Cher. Real mature." He says to his younger sister.

"Yeah, like a heart-to-heart." Joyce tells the older Hopper. "A heart-to-heart? What is that?" Cherry just shakes her head while smiling at her brother.

"You sit them down and you talk to them, like you're their friend. I find if you talk to them like you're on their level, then they really start to listen." She explains to him while her puts his head on a wall.

"Then you know, you start to create some boundaries." She finishes. "Boundaries." He says to himself. "Yeah Jimmy, boundaries." Cherry says to her brother. He just looks at her. She shrugs and gets up to start walking around, since this place was dead quiet.

"Hop, it's really important that no matter how they respond, you stay calm. You can not lose your temper." Joyce tells him. They both hear a booming laugh come from one of the isles. "Yeah, good luck with that Jimbo." Cherry says while still laughing.

"Shut up!" Jim tells his sister. Joyce giggles at the siblings and their bickering.

"Uh...maybe you could do it for me." Jim says quietly. "No." Joyce whispers back to him while shaking her head a little. "Yeah, you could. Yeah, you could. You come over after work. Yes." He tries. "No." Joyce tells him again.

"It only works if it comes from you." Joyce tells him. While pointing a finger to his chest. Cherry comes out of a isle and walks up to them.

"Hey, I'm just gonna go, ok? I'm gonna go to the pool. See you guys later ok?" Cherry tells the two. "Ok, did you need me to drop you off at home then take you or..." Jim asks his sister. "Nah, I already have my stuff in my bag I'll be fine." She assures her brother.

"Ok, well see you later." He gives her a small hug and a kiss on top her head. "Bye Jim bye Joyce." She tells them. While going out the door she hears them say goodbye to her.

Then she goes off to the pool, she knew it would be packed but she didn't care, all she wanted was to get in the pool to cool down a bit.

When she got there her assumption was correct, there was a lot of people there, but she was just gonna take a dip and get out then spend a little time in the sun to tan.

If only she knew that this summer was going to change everything
