"Oh," Macy Jackson smiled at her newborn. "How did we get so lucky, Trey?"
Trey Jackson, her husband, looked at their daughter and smiled. "She looks just like you."
Just then, Macy's phone rang. "Oh, it's Laura." She stood up and walked to the corner of their small living room to answer the call. Trey took her seat to gaze at the baby. From the corner of the room, he heard Macy say, "Oh, I don't think I can go, Laura... I have to stay with Leila, remember? ... it's okay, I can see the movie when it releases on DVD."
"You should go, Macy." Macy turned to look at her husband. "I can watch Leila while you're gone."
"But... but..."
Trey smiled. "I think the two of us will be okay for just a couple hours. You need to get out of the house."
Macy smiled. "I'll see you outside the theater at 6:30, Laura."
"I'm off!" Macy gave a kiss to her husband, then her baby, then she left.
Trey had been holding Leila and standing next to the door, waving to his wife. Then, as soon as she turned down the street, he rushed to his closet to grab his brown cloak. "We don't have much time, kid." He set his daughter on the floor as he put his suit on. Then, he put a cloak on her, too, in case they ran into Macy while they were gone.
Holding Leila with one arm, he knocked on the door with his free hand.
A short man opened the door. When he looked up and saw Trey, he bowed. "Evil Lightning Lord," he said. "What brings you here today?"
Trey, the alter-ego of The Evil Lightning Lord, pushed his cape away from his arm to reveal Leila. "My firstborn," He said.
The short man, who was named Otto, opened the door wide. "Why didn't you contact me earlier? We could've set up a ceremony."
"No time," Trey said. "My wife finally got out of the house. We only have two hours to do this."
Otto nodded and grabbed the dust. His power was slumber. "Set her down."
Trey laid his child on the counter. He was worried what Macy would think, but this had to be done.
"First, we need to make sure she really has powers." Otto said. He grabbed a balloon, blew it up, then rubbed it on his hair. He touched it, and it shocked him. "Youch." He held the balloon our to Leila, but she wasn't shocked. Then, he ran a few more tests.
Finally, Trey said, "We're running out of time, Otto."
Otto nodded. "Well, she definitely has the same electrical powers as you."
"So, can we get on with the procedure?" Trey was getting impatient.
Otto put a pillow under Leila, then poured the dust on her, and she quickly fell asleep.
Otto etched a shape between Leila's small eyes, a lightning bolt to match her father's.
Leila was asleep to prevent crying, and yellow liquid oozed from the cut. "Yup," Otto exclaimed. "She's definitely in the Lightning family line. Did you have a name picked out, Trey?"
Trey shrugged. He had never really thought about it.
Otto finished wiping up Leila's forehead, and handed the baby to her father. "I give you... Lightinga."
