I woke up startled from the nightmare again, but being psychic it actually made a lot of sense. I felt really weird, like I was a brand new person, but I was the same old Leila Jackson with the same old Lightning in my blood.

As I worked that day, filling out papers and smiling for pictures, I pretended I was some super-psychic who could predict anything and everything and save the world.

I know what you're thinking, though:

A) 16 is a little old to be pretending, and

B) I kind of already was some super-psychic.

Well, I couldn't predict everything. So far all I remembered was the dream, and a couple moments that stuck in my mind, a deja vu.

It was around lunchtime when I got a text from Sunny. Mason is acting really weird, it said.

I'm sure he's okay, I responded. He's probably nervous about going to the lawyer tomorrow.

Oh, right, Sunny said. Imma give him my cookie, try to cheer him up a lil. Cya later.

I was worried about Mason. He seemed really nervous for tomorrow. I would be, too, if I were him.

On my lunch break I went to the store and got a box of mini cupcakes, thinking maybe it would cheer Mason up. School ended at 3:00, so I grabbed my box of cupcakes and marched myself down there.

I was kind of nervous, I hadn't been to the high school since the end of last semester in May. I saw some familiar faces, and I heard some "Hey, there's Leila!"s. A crowd started to form behind me.

Not because they were my friends, because they wanted to be my friends, just because I was the mayor. Nobody had really been nice to me when I was here before. I was just the quiet girl whose mom just so happened to be the mayor.

Everyone outside followed me as I walked into the school. Sunny had her back towards us but she was talking to another girl who I guess was her friend, and she definitely saw us. She said something to Sunny and pointed and Sunny turned around and her jaw literally dropped. It was all kind of awesome.

The crowd was shouting now, asking things such as "Where are we going?" And "Who are those cupcakes for?"

Sunny finally caught up to me, panting. "What are you doing here?"

"Helping out," I smiled. "Mason's locker is around here, I'm guessing?"

"Well," Sunny breathed. She was struggling to keep up. "Yeah, he should be there, considering we haven't seen him yet."

"Good." I smiled and turned back to the crowd. "Let's go find Mason!" There were cheers as the crowd followed.

We must have swept the entire school, we were seeing less and less people. The teachers we passed looked perplexed. When we passed the principal's office, they crowd cheered and waved, hoping to get the principal to join.

I rounded the corner backwards, watching the crowd, and that was when I smacked right into Mason.

There was a thud as he dropped his books. "Oh, sorry!" I said.

He was surprised to see me and even more surprised to see the crowd. "What is going on?" Then he smiled at me. "Very deja vu-ish of the first time we met, huh?"

The crowd was stopping now, murmuring to each other. "Well, I came to see you! All these people followed me. I guess I'm kinda famous." I was trying to keep my voice down, but I guess they heard me because the crowd cheered. I winced. "Sorry. And yeah, but there wasn't a crowd following me that day." I held Mason's books out.

He grabbed them and smirked. "You're clumsy."

I felt myself blush. The crowd was petering out from behind me and forming a circle around us now. "But if you hadn't bumped into me we never would have met," Mason continued.

"Well, we would have," I smiled. He turned to put a couple of his books into his backpack and the rest into his locker. "But when you came to get the paper you wouldn't have thought anything of it." I saw a head of pink hair edging its way to the front of the crowd.

"Yeah." Mason's hands were now empty, his backpack on his back. He looked around at the crowd. "Man, the whole school must be watching us." He muttered.

That's when I remembered the cupcakes. "Oh! Right, these are for you!" I held the box out to him.

He laughed. "Aw, you didn't have to."

"I wanted to cheer you up," I gushed. I know you're nervous for tomorrow."

Mason's face went cold. Oops. I guess I had reminded him when he was trying to forget. "I gotta go," he mumbled, grabbing the box. "See you later, Lei."

The crowd groaned. They didn't want to see Mason go. One kid started chanting "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!" And the whole crowd soon joined in. The people in the front refused to let Mason through, no matter how hard he pushed.

He sighed and turned to me. He had to yell over the noise. "I guess we should give the people what they want." He started walking towards me.

The crowd shrieked. Some kids got their phones, ready to record. Eek! This was a thing that was happening!

Mason dropped his backpack and set the cupcakes down. The crowd screamed louder. I thought I was blushing hard, but his usual very pale face was full-on red. He stood in front of me, unsure of what to do. "I don't know how we should go about this."

I heard someone yell "just kiss her, man!" Mason was taller than me, so I just grabbed his head and kissed him before he had time to react. The crowd roared, so I held it. When Mason finally pulled away, he was redder than before.

"Let's go!" I grabbed Mason's hand and started running. The crowd yelled and followed us.

"Where are we going?" Mason yelled, keeping up the pace. He was Dash Boy, after all.

"I don't know, your apartment, I guess?" I yelled back, panting.

"Got it. Here, hold the cupcakes," as soon as I had ahold of them he snatched me up bride-style and as soon as we turned a corner were the mob couldn't see us he used his powers and we were at his apartment in two seconds flat.

I blinked as he put me down. I had never gone that fast before, and it left me shaken pretty badly.

Mason laughed. "You get used to it after awhile." He offered his arm out, and I held onto it for dear life, I was so dizzy.

We had already opened the box of cupcakes and started digging in when the doorbell rang. "Huh, that's weird," Mason said, getting up from the table. "I don't get very many visitors."

He opened the door, which I couldn't see from the table. I didn't hear any conversation, though. Instead, I heard footsteps coming right to the kitchen. "Who was at the-"

I was interrupted by a very agitated-looking Sunny. "Me. I was."

Mason entered the kitchen behind her, giving me a look that said Oops, we kind of forgot about Sunny. Again. "Sorry," Mason apologized. "I can only hold one girl at a time. I don't have super strength."

Sunny just sighed and stuffed a cupcake in her face.
