We got to the club, and there was a bouncer at the door. He looked surprised to see my dad. "Evil Lightning Lord," he bowed as he moved out of the way to let my dad through.
Then he saw me.
"Sorry, little girl," the bouncer sneered. "This is an adult party."
My dad stopped in the doorway, not even looking back. "She's with me."
The bouncer quickly hurried out of the way to let me through.
My dad had been to Lite It Up several times before, being the ultimate villain. However, I'd never gone, and when I stepped in it was absolutely insane. There were tons of villains in their suits, dancing on the color-changing floor. Off to the side was a bar, and there were tables near every wall. My dad walked towards the bar, leaving me alone, unsure what to do.
Then, somebody walked up to me, but I couldn't tell who, thanks to the dim lighting. "Lightinga?" I recognized the voice to be Greed Goblin.
"Greedy!" I walked toward him. It was loud, so we had to stand close to hear each other. "How did you get in? This club has an age limit."
"I'm 18," he replied. I'd forgotten that. "The better question is, how did you get in? You're just a little baby."
"I'm 16," I rolled my eyes. "I got in thanks to my dad."
"Yup, you'll never be as mature as me," He said, quite annoyingly. "But I don't care." And he wrapped me in his arms.
I'd forgotten he'd liked me, I hadn't seen him in so long.
That's a lie. I saw him a couple days ago. Well, Leila did.
"Wanna go get a drink?" Greed Goblin asked after he stopped hugging me.
Nervously, I replied, "Not really."
"Okay. Then let's go dance." He grabbed my arm and led me to the lighted floor.
After awhile, I got over the fact I was the youngest person in there and just started to enjoy myself with Greedy. We danced till we were breathless with the fast songs.
We were breathing quickly at the end of a song when we heard a man speak through a microphone. It was the DJ. "Ladies and gentlemen, supervillains of all ages, we have someone special here with us tonight." The audience quieted down. Greed Goblin grabbed my hand so he wouldn't lose me in the crowd. "Let's welcome to the stage the one and only... Evil Lightning Lord!"
As soon as my dad walked up to the stage, everyone bowed. My dad might as well have been God or something. "You may rise," everyone got up. "Good to be here tonight," my dad said, looking around. Cheers went through the room. "Look, everyone. I've got a plan. And to pull it off, I need held from all of you." The room went dead silent, not wanting to miss a word. "I'm going to be running for mayor in the upcoming election, as Lester Rostov. So, if you all would vote for me, that would be great. But in the meantime, keep fighting the heroes. If we can keep them away, this just might work. And then, when I'm elected mayor, boom. We attack. So, vote for Lester Rostov, and keep on being the bad little villains you are." Cheers went through the crowd. The people at the bar clinked glasses. The DJ started the music again.
"I'll be right back," I told Greedy. "I'm going to the bathroom."
Bad little villains? I didn't really think that was what I was, but I guess if I was choosing evil, that's what I'd be. Even if I wanted to change, there was no way I could. I was too far in.
I came back to the floor just as another song started playing. I found Greedy and we began to dance again. But this time, instead of dancing next to each other, he grabbed my hand and we actually danced with each other. When the song slowed down unexpectedly, I had still been moving fast and screeched to a halt. And the hood on my head fell off, revealing my head of brown hair. Good thing I still had the mask on my face, or I would've been doomed. But still, I felt my cheeks set on fire.
I let go of Greedy's hand to pull it back up, but he grabbed my hand and set it down. "I've got it," he said, his own sandy hair exposed. He didn't bother with a hood.
So he reached back behind my head, but instead of grabbing my hood, he took the back of my head and pushed it towards his, and our lips pressed together. This took me in complete shock.
For some reason, I was... disappointed. Here I was, having my first kiss, but I found that I wished it would have been with... Mason, of all people.
No.
Don't think about Mason.
Here's a guy that actually likes you, and your dad wouldn't absolutely despise you if you went out with him! Get it together!
So I didn't stop him. When Greed Goblin finally pulled away and untangled his fingers from my hair, he looked at me. "Woah."
"Woah, what?"
"That was amazing."
I said nothing. Agreeing was one lie that I just couldn't tell.
When it was near midnight, I decided to go home. I had to work in the morning, just like every other morning, but I didn't tell Greedy that part.
"I had fun tonight," he said smiling. I had, too, up until he had kissed me. I wasn't sure what a kiss was supposed to feel like, but I didn't think it was the way I felt. Ever since then, I had been wishing I was back at my desk, watching Mason as he propped up his elbows on my desk.
But, of course, I'm a liar. "Me too."
He looked at the ground before looking back at me. "You know," he said, taking his sweet little time. I was hoping he'd hurry. I was exhausted. "I'd like to meet the person under the mask sometime."
Wait. He wants to meet Leila? Haha, no. That one isn't gonna happen.
"Maybe," I smiled, lying again.
He hugged me goodbye. "Please?"
I hugged him back, only because I didn't get many hugs. "Sorry. If you knew who I was... if anyone knew who I was... I'd be in serious trouble."
Greedy sighed and let go. "Maybe one day. Well, when will I see you again?"
I thought this over. Even though I wanted to be with Mason, Greedy was still my friend. "I... I don't know."
