Waking up on the dirty ground is not the best way to begin a daring adventure. My name is Kancer. I'm Prince of the angels. Right now I'm on a quest to find the demon who wrecked the royal stables.
The angels and demons have been enemies for centuries. The two have never got along . Most creatures work together and get along. Most creatures work together and get along in order to stay hidden from mortals, but the demons and angels are different.
I myself have never come face to face with a demon, but one killed my father. My mother told me of their mischievous ways and scary, blood, red eyes that see into your soul. She told me that their teeth are sharp like knives so it's easier to eat their victims. When I was younger, I used to have nightmares about them. But now I'm older, and I am a well trained warrior.
As I ride through the woods, I hear the birds and fairies sing. This boggles my mind. My mother always told me demons lived here along with fearful creatures. That's why no one from my kingdom was allowed to venture this far. But now that my mother had passed, she couldn't convince me not to head in this direction.
But what confuses me, is the state of the forest. It is beautiful. The grass has a wonderful and healthy color to it, the trees are in good shape. It surely doesn't look like vil monsters lived here.
"Sire, over here." The voice of one of my men snapped my attention away from the beauty around me. I turned to see what it was.
Up in the trees a figure sleeps peacefully. It looks to be a girl. Not sure if it's a human, I give signals to my men to hide their wings. If she is mortal we don't want her to know.
"Um, hello? Miss?" I yell up to her, yet she doesn't seem to budge.
I look around to find a good size rock. I pick it up, then aim to throw at the branch she is laying on. I do so, shaking the branch. Nothing. I try, again. Nothing. After a while I give up, she doesn't seem to wake. I turn to walk away in hope to find someone lse.
As I make it a couple yards, I feel something quite hard hit me against my back. I turn to find the first rock I threw at my feet. Looking up, I see the girl awake with her legs hanging off the branch.
"Ya know, maybe if you said why you wanted to talk to me I would've answered. No need for throwing rocks at me." She said. Her voice sounded like something I have never heard before. It wasn't soft like a girl's nor hard like a man's, but harsh and precise like a warrior's.
"Oh, my apologies! I'm just looking for someone to help me with directions." I reply. I watch as she swings her legs before jumping down. Only then do I realize how tall the tree branch was. It had to be at least fifteen feet high.
She landed on the ground as if she'd done this many times. Her bright red hair flowed in waves. Her dark green eyes reflected the forest's colors back at me. She wore a red, blue and black plaid button up with her sleeves rolled up along with shorts that had many pockets and to top it off, she had brown timberland.
"Where are you trying to go? She asked.
"We're looking for someone who broke into my stables last night."
She looked at me for a bit as if I were a book she had a hard time trying to read.
"Sorry, but I haven't seen anyone who looked like they've stolen something. But you might find better luck in the next town over. If it was last night, they could've reached there by now." she said pointing east. There was something with the way she said her words that made me wonder.
