Chapter 21

~ 3 weeks later ~

Jake and I haven't had much time to ourselves. Rixton has been doing shows back to back and even though I'm their photographer, I still rarely see them. Jake is always off signing autographs after shows or meeting fans, and then we won't get home until 2:00 AM. By then both of us are so tired we won't have time to talk! Then the next morning he has 2-3 interviews to go to. This goes on, and on, and on. Oh and by the way, today's my 22nd birthday! And Jake has yet to say anything.

"Hey sweetie." Jake kissed me on the cheek.

"Hi." I said dully.

"What's wrong?"

"We never see each other anymore Jake! Doesn't it bug you? You are always off doing something like band rehearsals or greeting fans!" I snapped. I didn't mean to let all of my anger out but it happened anyway.

"I know, I know." He said trying to comfort me.

"Do you even know what day it is today?" I asked folding my arms.

"Uhh... Friday?"

I gave him a death glare.

"Please don't be upset! What am I suppose to say?" He said.

"Nothing. Today is nothing don't worry about!" I was furious.

"I have to go." I said looking at my watch.

"Where are you going?"

"Job hunting." I said and slammed the door.

~ Jake's P.O.V ~

"I have to go." Madi said looking at her watch.

"Where are you going?"

"Job hunting." She snapped and slammed the door.

Well, I think I managed to piss her off. She will forgive me tonight though.

I dialed Danny's cell.

Me: "Hey mate!"

Danny: "Hey what's up?"

Me: "Everyone is still up for tonight right?"

Danny: "Yeah we will be at your place around five o'clock?"

Me: "Yeah Madi left to go job hunting she should be back around three o'clock. I will leave a note saying I've left. She will be so pissed she will take a super long shower. Then we can sneak up here and decorate."

Danny: "Alright sounds good."

Me: "Bye."

Danny: "Bye."

Madi is in for a real surprise tonight.

~ 4 hours later Madi's P.O.V ~

"Well I'm back." I said throwing my purse on the counter. I was still pissed at Jake for forgetting my birthday.

"Umm... Hello?" I asked peering my head around the corner. No one answered.

"Of course." I whispered under my breath. He's gone again.

I walked over to the fridge to get some food and I noticed a note on the door.

Madi,

I went out with the boys for a drink be back later tonight! X

"YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" My voice echoed through the apartment. To let off some steam I decided to take a shower.

I walked into the bathroom and blared my music. I don't know why but taking a hot shower and blaring music always helps me cope.

Maps by Maroon 5 came on. I couldn't help but sing along.

I am the worst signer out there but I don't care!

I stepped out of the shower and dried my hair. I slipped on some black sweats and a grey sweatshirt. I walked out to the kitchen and all of the lights were turned off. What the hell?

"SURPRISE!"

"AHHH!" I screamed. I looked around and saw Danny, Jake, Charley, Lewi, and Karlye standing around with party hats on. There was a cute white table with cup cakes and goodies all over it. On the back wall was a collage of every photo of Jake and I together. It was perfect.

~ Jake's P.O.V ~

"Ok guys sh sh sh!" I whispered to the boys and Karlye. I shut the lights off and heard footsteps come closer and closer.

"1...2...3"

"SURPRISE!"

"AHHH!" Madi screamed.

"Oh my god!! What...I...WHAT?" She was so confused it was hilarious.

"Happy birthday love!" I ran up to her and kissed her. When I pulled away she was still in shock.

"I thought you forgot!"

"You really think I would forget my girlfriend's 22nd birthday?" I asked wrapping my arm around her shoulder.

"Well we just don't see much of each other and you never said anything."

"Me not saying anything was part of the plan duh...." I said poking her nose.

"But how did you get everything set up so fast?"

"That part was easy! I knew you would take a really long shower because you were so upset. We already had a cake made and balloons blown up, it was all a matter of setting things up."

"This is amazing thank you all so much." She said tearing up.

"Anytime!" Danny said.

"Alright how about we open some presents?" Karlye asked.

"Okay!" Madi joyfully replied.

We all gathered around in our living room and she opened her presents one by one. The first gift was from Charley and Karlye, it was a pair of brown boots. Next was from Danny. He got her a clock radio. Then she opened up Lewi's present which was a new pair of headphones.

"Alright last one's from me!" I said handing her a small, rectangular box.

~ Madi's P.O.V ~

"Alright last one's from me!" Jake said handing me a small box. I opened it and almost burst out in tears. I pulled out a small silver necklace in the shape of a crescent moon. Engraved on it said, "I love you to the moon and back."

"Oh my gosh Jake! Thank you so much! This is the best gift I have ever gotten." I walked up to him and kissed him immediately.

"You're welcome. I love you to the moon and back babe." I gave the necklace to Jake so he could fasten it around my neck. It was beautiful.

"Ok enough of this mushy stuff can we eat some cup cakes?" Danny asked.

"Sure!" I laughed.

Everyone sang happy birthday to me. Each of us grabbed a chocolate or vanilla cup cake and sat in the living room. We watched a couple episodes of Raising Hope. I sat on one end of the couch and Jake sat on the other. My legs spread across onto his lap.

This was the best birthday I've had by far.
