Daehyun:
It was almost hailing by the time me and DQ got to Granny Ji's house. Though I must say this day was turning out to be quiet the hassle. DQ had left his car keys in the house. And my bus pass had past the expression date. So we walked, by that I mean we basically ran all the way here.
Granny Ji lives about five miles away.
So, we ran five miles. In the pouring rain.
We had made it just in time. My phone was on the verge of death. Yet, I could still read the time. It was five minutes till three, and we were barely on schedule.
Standing in front of the door, I hesitated. Only forty-five minutes ago, I had fought with father. Could I handle anymore stress? Was it worth it to even be here? I had all these demanding thoughts flying around my head. What if she hated me? Would she blame me for mother's death?
"Daehyun" a soft hand rested on my face, gently stroking cheek. I closed my eyes and unintentionally leaned in. This person has smelled of mango's and sugar. And the feel of this hand...could it be
"Granny Ji..." I open my eyes slowly. A sad smile was sketched across her face and her eyes were watery. She bit her lip and brought me into a hug.
To be embraced by someone was a wonderful feeling. Especially if you grew up knowing that someone was a negative, pessimistic old woman. Yet, this hug felt...warm and loving. With a hint of sadness to it as well. She soon lets go and pats my face softly.
She ushers us in quickly. Once the door is shut she bring DQ into a hug. Once he lets go. She, smacks him on the back of the head and I hold in a laugh.
"You dumbass, what's wrong with you? You let my grandson walk all the way here in the rain? He's gonna catch a fever. You know how weak his immune system is." She purses her lips and places her hand on her hips.
"Geez, thanks for caring about me you old hag." I wince as she smacks him again.
"Old hag my ass. Who taught you to tie your shoes? Or brush your teeth? Or even to wipe your own ass? Ha, I did. Don't old hag me you whiney brat." Pushing past him she walks into the kitchen.
I burst out laughing as he blushes a deeper shade of red. Muttering a few curse words, he pushes past me and follows her into the kitchen. I walk back to the door. As I take my shoes off, I can hear them throwing insults back and forth. Smiling I decided to go find some of grandpa jun's old clothes. Seeing as we're both soaking wet.
Climbing up the stairs, I stare at all the pictures for a few minutes. Mother was in almost everyone. Her smile was breathtaking. In each picture she gets older. The last picture is of our family all of us. From DQ to Grandpa Jun. That was his last Christmas with us.
He was usually very busy. He was a pianist. Many people loved him. Even payed for private shows or lessons. He was very popular during the 60's. He made so much money, that Granny Ji would be able to live off if it. And still put me through university.
Shaking my thoughts away I hurry towards the attic. That's where Granny Ji, had placed all of his things. It was too painful for her to look at everyday. Yet she still loves too talk about him.
Stepping into the attic, I hurry over to the box marked 'jun's clothes'. Opening it I grab out two pairs of pants and two sweat shirts. Of course they didn't fit, and I had to find a belt. After I finished getting re-dressed, I closed the attic door. Descending down the stairs I heard Granny Ji and DQ whispering to each other.
"Dominic, we need to get him out of there. That monster of a father doesn't deserve a sweet kid like him."
"You don't think I've tired. He won't leave. He has too many memories of Yuko there."
