It’s been a week since the last time Valynteania has been hit by her father. She had been avoiding him at all cost, just so she wouldn’t have to face him. She knew he was stressed out by all the pack work he was doing so she didn’t take it to heart whenever he would lash out like he did last time. Taking a deep breath she exited out the front doors of the school into the quad and down the path the path leading towards her home. She also had been avoiding Ryouta for the past week, she didn’t want to continue their conversation from that day so she figured avoiding him would be the best option. So for the past week she has been walking home on her own.

BEEEEEEP. BEEEEEP.

“Ai! If you do not get in this car this instant I will get out and drag you into myself.” Not bothering to turn she took off running down the road, her home was at least forty minutes away by foot so she would have to run into the forest to lose her pursuer.

“HEY! Wait, where are you going!?” hearing the screeching of tires and the sound of a car door opening made her run faster into the woods. Jumping over fallen trees and dodging branches you could heat the crunching of leaves and twigs underneath their feet. Not paying attention to where she was stepping she suddenly lost her footing when she stepped on a patch of wet slippery leaves. A sharp pain ricocheted through her leg but she ignored it and kept running, after running for what felt like hours she came across a small river she began picking up speed for she planned on jumping over it.

‘A little bit more’ she thought to herself as she grew closer to the river. Before she could jump strong arms made their way around her waist lifting her up off the ground and securely into the chest of the one and only. Ryouta.

“Gotcha Ai.” He said behind her, panting and sweating like a dog.

“Yes yes, you caught me now put me down. You smell and your sweaty.” She grumbled out and wiggled in his hold in an attempt to get away again.

“Oh no you don’t, you sprained your ankle when you were running away from me. And we’re gonna talk about why exactly you were running away from me in the first place.” He said while taking one of his arms and putting it underneath her legs, carrying her bridle style. Valynteania was going to argue and say she could walk but Ryouta gave her a look that said ‘shut up or else it’s on’. Taking the warning she leaned her head against his chest and closed her eyes, listening to the beat of his heart that was palpitating due to all the running he just did. Opening her eyes and looking up she was met with the side of his neck, she lifted one of her hands and poked it to see what kind of reaction she would get from him. When nothing happened she poked him again, still nothing. Instead of poking him again she stared tracing shapes and smiley faces on his neck, when she heard a chuckle from him she smiled to herself and buried her face into his neck and wrapping her arms around it while still smiling.

“What are you doing Ai?” he asked while letting out a small laugh. She just shook her head and took a deep breath. Cherry blossoms and spice, it was a smell she had always loved even as a child. Whenever Ryouta would go over to put her down for her naps she would always cling to him and take in his smell. She never knew why he smelled this way and why she loved it oh so much. She had thought of asking him if it was a cologne or something but then decided against it and kept it to herself. After walking for about ten minutes they finally made it back to the main road and Ryoutas’ car was a few feet away. When they got to the car Ryouta used the hand that was underneath her legs to open the door and place her into the passenger’s seat.
