Patton put the last plate away and smiled at his work. A clean kitchen meant that he could finally get some sleep.

He walked outside humming happily on his way back home. He had finished later then usual because everyone else left him to clean up, but he didn't mind. Everyone deserves a night off and he was sure they would return the favour at some point.

The street was dark and, slightly scary. It was raining earlier that day so the cobblestone path was glistening. The moon was behind a cloud and there were no lights coming from any of the houses either as almost everyone was asleep. The castle loomed over the whole town. It was a beautiful castle, made of pale grey bricks, with windows covering every wall. The gates were tall and gold with intricate patterns and two, large stone gargoyles on either side.

"Patton?"
Patton quickly turned around and smiled. Logan sighed as he walked into the stables. Patton followed.

"Logan, what's wrong?"
"Hopefully nothing. The prince has been away for some time now and I fear for his safety."
He said as he left the stables on a horse.

Patton was still for a split second before he jumped on a horse and chased after Logan. He was a fast rider and before long had caught up.

Logan stared at him, confused as to why he had come. Patton was smiling.

"I'll help you look for Roman. He's my friend too."

They had been riding for some time when Logan quickly stopped, Patton soon following his lead. They both got off their horses and walked over to the other one, tied to a tree.

Logan looked back at Patton.
"It's definitely Roman's horse. Which means he's close."

Patton nodded and looked around. The trees were too close together to see further then a few metres in any direction which, surprisingly enough made it a lot harder to search for someone. So they started looking immediately, staying close to each other. Although it would cover more ground and faster, they didn't think it would be a good idea to split up when it was so dark.

They were walking for what felt like hours, shouting Roman's name in hopes of him calling back when Patton noticed something hanging from a tree.

He backed away as he watched the small creature stare at him with it's beady eyes. It's eight, long legs landed on the forest floor as the creature started running towards him. It was moving quickly, he screamed. He could almost see the fangs in it's mouth and-

"Patton it is just a spider." Logan said as he picked it up, causing Patton to scream again.

"This one is not even venomous."
He carefully placed it back in the tree.

Patton didn't take his eyes off the creepy crawly death dealer and it stared back. The creatures face was small but Patton was sure it was glaring at him.

There was rustling from behind them and a dishevelled prince appeared, his sword in hand.

His clothes were dirty and his hair was falling over his face but it was definitely Roman.

"Who needs saving?" He asked, out of breath, looking at his two friends.

Logan sighed.
"No one, Patton simply saw a spider and panicked."

Roman dramatically gasped and immediately dropped his sword on the ground and hugged Patton.
"I can't believe I left you to slay such a beast on your own!"

Logan rolled his eyes.
"Can we please head back to the castle now? Patton and I have to work tomorrow and the sun is already beginning to rise."

The other two nodded and started following Logan back to the horses.
