IMPORTANT:

This was an unpublished part of the prologue. I did not add it in because this part seems too long and thought a short one will do the trick. However, I found out some gaps in the story which can make the reader confuse. I have a friend who read the first parts and said that the story was so sudden, jumping from one part to another too quick.

I also felt that way and thought many times whether to add something to the story or redo the plot. After lots of thinking, I decided to publish this part. It was unedited at first as I left it here for months. I added in some things to follow the flow.

Do tell me if there is any mistakes because I am still learning. I am sorry that the story seems jacked up😔

Beyond the stairs, between overgrown bushes, stood a shrine; five lion dogs stood in a row on each side of the entrance. The front building has a grey hip-and-gable roof with verandas on the sides. The building has the traditional Japanese architecture. Dust, leaves, and branches scattered around, it's been a long time since it was cleaned.

"Okay, we will split up to check for anything-"

"Are you kidding me?! That's the worse move when entering an abandoned building! One of us will never be able to come back!" I interrupted his words. I remembered those horror games played by you-tubers. Slender man, Amnesia, the Grudge, you name the rest. All have creepy backgrounds. One Japanese game stood out to me, Corpse Party. A group of students and a teacher were sent to another dimension after doing the curse ritual. A young girl in red dress controlled an old elementary school, who took pleasure in tormenting lives.

Sometimes, the best thing to have a partner with you to look out your back. Or things will get hectic. One particular female student met her end when she entered an infirmary alone.

"Since when your imagination ran wild, Jun-chan? Look around you, this place is small. If something happens, we can see it," Dan stated, eyes twinkled with amusement at me.

"Yea, but...this place does not made me feel comfortable,"I muttered, the uneasiness settled in my stomach made me sick.

"Not to worry, after a thorough investigation, we are free to go! That's if we encounter a paranormal activity," Dan strolled forward, leaving me and Erika behind.

"H-Hey! Wait up!" I rushed to his side. I disliked when someone leave me at the back alone. Right now, I have to keep my sanity in check.

We walked up to the building and inspected the exterior. Ren went around the corner and said, "Hey, guys! There is another building behind. I think it is the main hall, enshrining the deity."

(Shrines can have many architectural structures. I found it on Wikipedia cause I don't live in Japan)

"Yosh, I will take the back. Ren-kun will stay here. Erika-chan and Jun-chan can look around," Dan instructed.

"Everyone have their phones ready?" Dan ignored took out his Iphone seven. I mentally grumbled. Nobody listened to me or paid attention to me sulking.

I pulled out my phone and checked the quality function. The background shown from the camera looked vivid and clear, though it was dark. I switched to night version, adjusted my flashlight into my left hand. We began our separate paths.

There was not a single living being in the place. Specks of dust coated the wooden material. One touch could make it crumble as the place has been here for many decades without proper maintenance. Spiderwebs covered every corner. The place gave a ghostly appearance.
