"I told you--my daughter needs help. Mr. London texted me and told me to help pick people for a new military," I slip on my jacket.
"Don't they already have a military?" Tony asks.
I turn around and roll my eyes at his question. I already told him this story five times.
"I asked you a question," he remarks, folding his arms.
"And I don't care," I respond.
I open my front door and walk into the day.
"We have to get to the boys' house," I say, "but we must not tell Skylar who we are."
"Who is Skylar?" Tony asks.
I stop in my tracks and clench my fists. He clearly needs hearing aids.
"Do you need hearing aids or something, because you're getting on my last nerve," I scold.
He jumps back at the loud yell that escapes through my mouth. He closes his mouth and fixes his tie. I take another step and am stopped by Tony's screaming.
"Would you shut up? Why do you want me to be late for everything!" I turn around to see him grabbing at his foot.
"What, did you get hurt?" I scowled him.
"Yes. I did get hurt, by two things. One thing is the wall getting in the way of my feet, and two, your bitterness. No wonder you have no friends," he pouts.
"I thought you were my friend," I reply, folding my arms.
"I'm starting to rethink my life's choices," he throws back.
I walk up to his face and clench my fists. I can't help the anger that is building up inside of me. My face turns red, as I huff.
"Imposter!" I yell into his face.
The silence in the air stings. He stares at me and doesn't dare to say a word.
"Now look who's distracting," Tony speaks up.
I sigh, rolling my eyes.
"Just come on," I order, walking out the door. "I'm going with or without you."
I can feel the sound of footsteps rush up to me, and I smile knowing I got to him.
......We arrive at Elijah's doorstep and knock.
"Don't do anything stupid," I command him, raising my eyebrows.
"You're worried about me?" he asks as if it was the most offensive thing in the world to say. "Maybe you're the one doing stupid things, and I'm the genius getting it all on camera."
He takes out his phone and presses a few buttons that I assume are the camera.
"What do you think you are doing?" I fold my arms.
He swipes his finger to the right and turns the phone towards me. It is a video of me dancing and singing to a Taylor Swift song. I laugh.
"You think that is stupid? I think that is talent. Actually, I don't think it, I know it," I smile. "And put that away. You're not supposed to have that."
The door opens, and he still hasn't moved the screen. Elijah looks at the screen and then at me.
"Cool, cool," he reacts without any other words.
