REEM
HER eyes jerk open to the sight of a boy. A few seconds pass by until she finally remembers the previous events and she, with little difficulty, sits up on the hard, cold ground.
"Glad to know you're still alive" the amusement was completely gone from his tone, and also his expressions.
She wondered how someone could change moods so drastically.
"Yeah I'm fine, Alhamdulilah" Reem replied as she scratched her hijab-covered head a bit. "What happened?" She asks, as she can't fully comprehend what had occurred.
"Well, so I saw you getting chased by this creepy man, mad skills by the way I would have never guessed someone like you could run like that, and thought that you'd probably need help, which I turned out to be right about, and followed you. I tackled the man to the floor and beat him before he ripped your hijab off, and then you saw me and fainted" He answered her without stopping once, his voice monotone.
First, she frowned when he said 'someone like you' because she didn't know what that was supposed to imply. Certainly, just because she wore a hijab and covered herself did not mean she was different from any other female! She could still run and do anything!
However she chose not to comment on that and shut her mouth.
"Ok, well, JazakAllah khair for your help, but it's getting late now I should go home" She offered a small smile and checked the time on her phone, cringing when seeing that the time was well over nine o'clock.
Mama is never going to let me leave the house ever again!
He did not return the smile, rather nodded and also stood up.
"I'll see you at school then?" She squeaked as he turned around and started walking away.
"What?" He snapped back harshly.
"Umm...you know we go to the same school?" She was rather confused by his change of attitude.
"We do?" He had stopped walking but still did not turn in her direction.
She rolled her eyes and did not answer. If he wanted to be rude and act like a snobby, little brat, that was fine, she would too.
She'd remembered where she had seen him before, it was at school earlier today, it was the exact same boy who she'd bumped into! Or rather he'd bumped into her, or maybe they'd just both bumped into each other. She hated that someone who could recite Quran with such a beautiful voice could have such manners!
But then she remembered she should not be quick to judge, for maybe he was going through rough times right now, and not hate on him. Prophet Muhammad did advise Muslims to cover up the faults of others. The practice of making 70 excuses helps one to become humble and to be forgiving. In doing so, we recognize that only Allah sees and knows all things, even the secrets of the hearts.
She made her way towards the path the man was chasing her on, intending to find her coat, for if she returned home without it, her mum would have a lot of questions which she would be unable to answer for.
She did not have to search for very long as she had spotted the coat from a while back and ran to get it, muttering an Alhamdulilah. Not wasting any more time, she started to make her way back home, her job escalated into a fast run as she did not want to anger her mum more than she probably already had.

She hugged her coat close to her body, trying to provide more heat for herself in the cold weather of England.
